Assignment Planner, The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc., Dubai, UAE

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a journalist to lead the coverage, logistical and resource planning of special events for Alhurra News at our office in Dubai, UAE. MBN is a non-profit, multimedia broadcaster that provides news and information to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio and digital properties in support of US diplomacy.

The Assignment Planner monitors operational needs for Special Projects and makes the information available to all relevant personnel.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Assignment Planner include, but are not limited to:

Insuring that all Special Projects are given proper logistical and coverage planning support. Organizing planning sessions for each project and oversees the logistical efforts made or contemplated for those events.
Keeping track of on-air talent assignments, and insuring that crews, facilities, lines, and guest information relating to the event are properly disseminated.
Assisting the Chief Global Assignment and Planning Editor in managing and coordinating logistics to insure that the Special Project is executed professionally and efficiently
Gathering and maintaining contact information needed for specific events, and maintaining a list of possible alternate vendors or personnel. As MBN’s chief point of contact in the planning stages of the event, the Assignment Planner must be well-informed in all developments, pending events, and logistical arrangements made or contemplated by the company.
Maintaining communication with press offices and media relations officials connected with each special project, and insures that credentials, travel, and technical arrangements have been addressed.
Maintaining financial records, including rate cards, expenditures, and proposed expenditures relating to the special project.
Insuring that appropriate personnel are assigned to the special projects coverage as needed.
Reporting all developments and concerns to the Global Chief Assignment & Planning Editor as well as to the head of the relevant department.
Adhereing to MBN journalist code of ethics.
In some cases, Assignment Planners might be requested to travel on assignments to assist with special coverage or programming.

Candidates are required to have:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism (or related field).
2 years of event planning experience.
Ability to communicate verbally and written in English and classic Arabic.
Demonstrated an ability to prioritize and make decisions consistent with the mission of the organization.
Keen sense of logistics and ability to work well with others including producers, reporters, photographers, other personnel and the public
Good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and under stress with accuracy and balance.
Demonstrated strong people management skills.
Strong attention to details.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

What you'll be doing

Our In-Store Stylist will use visual merchandising to convert window shoppers into prospects, drive branding and sales objectives and maximize profitability. You will be responsible for designing and creating attractive visual displays for retail outlets. As creative and innovative thinkers, they use their skills in visual design and space utilization to enhance the aesthetic appeal of window displays, walkways, counters, and in-store displays.

Create and style on-brand, on-trend visual displays and mannequins that lead the customer through the entire store
Produce window displays, signs, interior displays, floor plans and special promotions displays
Research ideas and deliver clear styling moodboards for the mannequin update
Maintain knowledge of current trends in fashion and styling and bring innovative ideas and inspiration to the VM team
Identify key messages and set a clear image of the end result
Come up with, revise and present design ideas with assistant merchandisers
Act in alignment to the organization’s culture, products, image and target market
Oversee the production and brief staff on arranging displays
Change displays to promote new product launches and reflect festive or seasonal themes
Liaise with suppliers and source elements
Research lifestyle, demographics and design trend
Develop and maintain strong relationships with brands

What you’ll need to succeed

Experience in Visual Merchandising or Mannequins styling within Fashion
Passion for styling, Trends/fashion
An eye for detail
Strong portfolio, within styling or visual merchandising, to present
