Associate Legal Counsel, Gartner, Dubai, UAE

Gartner is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel to join the legal team in the Middle East. Responsibilities include contract negotiations, ongoing subsidiary maintenance, corporate governance and compliance matters, and liaising with external counsel and internal business and legal partners.

 

What you’ll do -

  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with Gartner clients across Gulf Region based on standard Gartner agreement documents and also on Clients’ own paperwork as required.

  • Attend client calls or meetings when necessary to support sales with client negotiations. 

  • Support sales in public sector tendering processes and RFP submissions. 

  • Maintain a close working relationship within Legal and Contracts team and with Sales agents across different countries in relation to client negotiations.

  • Advise on legal issues and risks, approval processes, company policies and procedures

  • Internal training – work closely with internal partners to coach and educate them.

  • Ensure corporate governance of all Gartner entities across the Gulf region including UAE, Saudi, and Qatar. 

  • Legal support and advice to other internal functions such as data privacy, compliance, HR, finance, or corporate secretary.

  • Support with managing external counsel work. 

  • Support the Annual Financial Reporting.

Relationships: Internal/External

  • Internal: Sales, Coordinators, Booking team, and the other members of the Global Contracts and Legal & Compliance team.

  • External: Gartner clients and Suppliers.

What you’ll need - 

You must thrive on the challenge of a fast-paced environment and work autonomously to execute multiple time-sensitive projects. This role requires flexibility, resourcefulness, and an innovative spirit.

  • University degree in law - LLB equivalent.

  • Approximately 1-3 years of experience in the legal department or a law firm.

  • Practical experience in negotiating contracts involving intellectual property in an international business environment.

  • Experience with public sector laws and regulations in the Middle East. 

  • Exposure to a similar industry (e.g., technology company or consulting firm) 

  • Language capabilities – Arabic and English essential. The language skills shall include the ability to draft and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements.

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent negotiation skills and good time management.

  • Ability to present authoritatively to internal and external stakeholders to ensure appropriate. protection of Gartner’s interests, whilst concentrating on the issues that really matter

  • Ability to prioritize workload based on value of business to Gartner versus complexity of negotiation whilst working to month-end and quarter-end sales deadlines

  • Requires good interpersonal skills to handle pressure from sales management

  • Adaptable, coachable, growth mindset, collaborative, and, proactive personality.

  • Ability to work both from the office or remotely.

Paymaster and General Cashier

As a Paymaster and General Cashier, you are Responsible to prepare payroll reconciliation and verify and process leave applications, vacation travel, change of status of employees, cash advance requests. Responsible to collect deposited envelops from the Front Office safe and check and tally items against the list.

What you will be doing: 

  • Raising system or manual payments of colleague salaries or advances
  • Ensuring accurate payroll records are always maintained
  • Update, run close day operation, print and file daily time sheets
  • Verify overtime requisitions with time sheets, forward the same for approvals, distribute copy and process approved overtime requisitions in the payroll system
  • Calculate final settlement of employee leaving the employment, forward the final separation forms approval to the Accounts Payable upon approval
  • Coordinate with the Human Resources Department on the opening of bank accounts for new employees
  • Reconcile house fund on a daily basis and keep the safe neat and tidy
  • Open every morning the Front Office safe depository, in the presence of a designated Finance employee and Front Office Manager / Night Manager and collect the deposit envelopes, which are checked against the deposit sheet
  • Report immediately any envelope missing to the Director of Finance
  • Check each item in the envelope against the enclosed list and any differences should be listed in the over / short column provided on the deposited sheet
  • Report immediately any discrepancies to the Director of Finance
  • Liaise with the money exchange company and exchange all foreign currency with the local currency
  • Import the previous day’s employee swiping data from the swiping terminal time and attendance system
  • Follow up with respective departments if any employee has not completed the swiping cycle

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum experience of 2 or 3 years in the position is preferred
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to work under restricted time
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll accounting package, employee benefits, labour legislation pertaining to employment in UAE
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  •  Ability to analyze payroll data and provide financial reports as per request
