The opportunity

 

Auckland Unlimited (AUL) is a newly created council-controlled organisation (CCO) established with an important mandate to drive investment, supporting Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland businesses to innovate and thrive, enhancing Auckland as a culturally vibrant city, telling the Tāmaki Makaurau story, and importantly providing experiences and opportunities for all.

 

The Data Architect ensures Auckland Unlimited strategic goals are optimised by evolving effective Enterprise Data Management using enterprise data standards for data warehousing, data lake, data management and other corporate databases. The key for this role is to unlock the value of data within the organisation by providing expertise, platforms, and capabilities.

 

The Data Architect works closely with the Digital Services team and is a problem solver that works with peers to co-design and improve enterprise data management to support the business strategy.

 

The role reports to Head of Architecture and works across the business to ensure that data can be managed as a strategic asset, is transparent, trusted, accessible and available in a timely manner to deliver business value. This role will have a data engineer reporting into it.

 

 

 

 

About you

 

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a high level of problem solving and decision-making skills, using professional judgement

 

    At least 10 or more years’ experience working with large scale data platforms
    At least 5-7 years of experience as a Data Architect
    Working experience with both on-premises, public cloud and SaaS hosted data management platforms and data architecture including but not limited to cloud service providers such as AWS or Azure
    Knowledge and understanding of both batch and fast-moving data paradigms
    Working experience with one or more data warehousing applications that may include Oracle, PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL and Azure Data Platform technologies (preferably Microsoft Azure Data Platform and Data Lake.
    Experience with data manipulation and scripting languages such as SQL, Python and Java
    Well versed with various data modelling techniques and design principles
    Possess strong creative and analytical problem-solving skills around computation, interpretation and presentation of data intelligence for decision making
    Knowledge of Machine Learning, data mining and AI principles applied to data patterns recognition resolving data driven problems
    Knowledge and experience working with NoSQL data management platforms such as MongoDB, Hadoop, Cassandra, MapReduce etc
    Good working experience in establishing MDM (Master Data Management) patterns across the Enterprise data estate
    Certifications and trainings in relevant data science courses would be a plus
    Ability to self-manage and prioritize work while mentoring junior team members
    Experienced people manager with an empathy led and facilitating attitude towards building up effective capabilities and skills within the team driven by positive motivation and collective teamwork
    Ability to use a variety of design and visualization tools to create enterprise data artefacts, data flows, solution designs, as-builts and data models
    Knowledge of relevant legislations, data privacy regulations (PCI, GDPR etc) and associated legal compliance

About You

We are looking for someone with a broad general knowledge of IT infrastructure who is looking to work in a role which provides daily variety. You will be operating in an environment where open source and Linux technologies are first class citizens but on any given day you work on Windows 2019 Server backups and then switch to a Wireguard VPN problem between AWS and an isolated customer environment (think top of a mountain or in the middle of a desert)

Tait is a 24x7 multi-national company so this role will require being part of an on-call roster.

The Role:        

The IT Administrator will be responsible for general IT troubleshooting, installing, and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners. Providing technical support across the company, you will respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests, managing your task list using Asana, the in-house project management system. Typical tasks will include assisting with onboarding processes by setting up new accounts for new users, repairing and replacing equipment as necessary, and testing new technology. Reporting to the IT & Cybersecurity Manager, you will monitor and maintain computer systems and networks, and assist with ad-hoc duties as required.

You will be comfortable assisting a broad range of people with varying degrees of technical understanding with both general and sometimes unique IT issues – our global team includes both highly technical engineers and developers, and staff that are far less technically savvy. Education
