Primary purpose of job

Experience & Skills

-Minimum of 8 years relevant working experience in general HSE management in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical related

About the Role

The role of the HSE Auditor is to carry out HSE Internal Audits as per the approved HSE audit plan for our network of schools. The HSE Auditor will also conduct special reviews and assignments as requested by the Head of HSE.

•To verify and report ineffective internal controls, including policies & procedures, and suggest alternate procedures for better efficiency and control.

•To review the existing systems to ascertain whether the desired results are obtained and whether they are consistent with established objectives and policies.


Identification of areas of hazard and risk through :


•Variance compared to established HSE policies or prior period benchmarks.

•Inadequate control measures, improper methods used and consequent loss.


Reporting and Communication


•Summarize and discuss key observations and audit issues with the Head of HSE.

•Complete audit working papers and prepare audit files which will be used to support audit reports findings.

•To conduct the audit tests, validate the controls and perform all audit procedures.

•Ensure that the Phoenix HSE is updated with all adequate evidence to facilitate review of the work and also address the review comments if any.


Audit Action Plan


•To update Actions and monitor for their compliance from schools.

•Prepare analysis and trends from audit reports for review and further action.

•To prepare the pending Critical and Major risk action items as and when required by the Head of HSE.


Audit Committee Presentations


•To assist in the preparation of audit committee presentations

•To assist Head of HSE in adhoc works assigned.


Preparation and review of Audit Reports


•Preparation of audit reports after completion of the Audits

•Enter Audit report in Phoenix HSE with evidence of Non-compliance


Department Administration


•Managing routine administrative matters within the department

•Preparation of Purchase Orders, GRN’s, and other DAX-related matters.


Required qualifications, experience, and skills:


•NEBOSH-IGC or Similar

•Lead Auditor – ISO 45001/ISO 14001

•3 - 5 years of experience in HSE Audits

•Strong communication in English, both verbal and written.

Reports incidents of noncompliance to codes and standards, and may recommend corrective actions. 

Follows up to confirm implementation of corrective actions.

Ensures the availability, readiness, and proper use of required accident prevention procedures, safety and fire prevention equipment, protective clothing and devices, and first aid supplies.

Maintains records of safety audits and inspections, as well as required follow up actions.

Maintains inventory of first aid, safety, and fire equipment. If properly certified in first aide may function as first aid attendant, providing first aid care to occupationally injured or ill personnel.

Conducts new hire safety orientations, daily safety huddles and weekly toolbox training.


The Health, Safety and Environment Inspector will be site based and shall cover the following activities across multiple work areas:


Monitors the HSE performance of contractors on site;


Monitors compliance with occupational health standards and use of personal protection equipment;


Participates in internal safety reviews and site inspections;


Takes part in incident investigation;


Checks observance of the permit to work systems;


Carries out or procures specialist HSE training;


Assists HSE Manager to implement H&S standards on site;


Prepares Site HSE reports.


Conducts OSH Audits on the project


Coordinates closely with Client's Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Department on Safety requirement and reporting to minimize construction disruption on site.


Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


Qualifications:

Associate's or equivalent degree in Construction or related field

Related work experience in the field of Health and Safety

Requires a familiarity with UAE and Abu Dhabi health and safety regulations and reporting procedures, SHARP Management, Parsons Construction Safety & Health Manual as well as good communication and interpersonal skills. The requirements include  


NEBOSH International General certificate or equivalent


Minimum 6 years demonstrable experience in which 5 years shall be in UAE infrastructure construction projects on construction supervision role.
