The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Studio Assistant for our Broadcast Operations team at our Dubai office in UAE. MBN is a non-profit grantee of the federal government that directly communicates with the people of the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio, and digital media.  MBNs mission is to provide objective, accurate, and relevant news and information to the people of the Middle East about the region, the world, and the United States in support of U.S. public diplomacy.

The Studio Assistant is responsible for providing technical operations support for fast paced news broadcast network.


The primary duties and responsibilities of the Studio Assistant include , but are not limited to:

Understanding and executing all functions of the Control Room Teleprompter position, the Control Room Playback position, and the Control Room Graphics position. 

This includes a technical understanding of the teleprompter, playback and graphics systems, and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.

Working effectively in a fast-paced control room environment with anchors, directors, producers for both live news and taped programming.

Providing support to other positions in the control room and studio, as needed.

Providing support to a 24x7 facility, may require the ability to work various shifts, weekends, including holidays.

Job Announcement Segment Producer, Programming

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking an experienced Segment Producer for our Programming team at our Dubai office in UAE. MBN is a non-profit, multimedia broadcaster that provides news and information to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio and digital properties in support of US diplomacy. 

The Segment Producer is responsible for conceiving, producing, compelling political investigative business and human interest stories / segments. 

The candidate should take care of all audio visual aspects of the show production insuring the highest standards of Television. Research, develop and pitch stories that reflect the ambitious and unique sensibility of the show. 


The primary duties and responsibilities of the Segment Producer, Include, but are not limited to:

Communicates daily story development with Senior Producer and Executive Producer.

Delives of segments as directed by the senior staff.

Concepts development, design, graphics, evaluation, story-telling, and sound.

Offers feedback on the quality of our segments and fill in when needed on multiple shows.

Proactively makes decisions in the field, edits room and in the office with department-wide and company-wide ramifications in mind (budget, PR, legal, etc.)

Ensures all production elements are of high production value and meet editorial standards.

Being in control room during airing of live segment looking out for live feeds, story line up and reviews of audio visual material before recording/air time.

Takes part in planning.

Ensures timely availability of important resources, talent and equipment.

Assistes on new innovative projects and initiatives when directed



Candidates are required to have:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism/broadcast journalism.

At least 3-5 years of experience in live television (i.e. morning shows, cable shows, broadcast TV, etc).

Experience producing long-form TV magazine and show segments with proven record of picture production, sequences and grammar.

Strong project management skills required to ensure product meets objectives while maintaining budget and schedule targets.

Excellent Arabic verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to record of researching, writing and formatting scripts effectively.

Exhibits quality shot making and graphic/visual sense.

Strong editorial judgement.

Ability to work under pressure and provide quick turnaround against high-pressure deadlines.

Ability to work effectively with other departments.

Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment including overnight coverage.

Ability to be organized, self-starter, work independently, and deal with rapidly shifting properties .

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a News Reporter to provide MBN Platforms with a clear and concise writing, Video and audio content. 

This position location is required for Dubai, UAE. 

The News Reporter is a storyteller responsible for gathering and verifying information through interviews, observations, organizes all material, determines the emphasis and writes stories to fit the standard formats.

 The Incumbent will produce content for MBN's television, digital, or radio platforms, as requested, including but not limited to television reports, on-line articles, digital stories, radio reports, photographs, features and live or taped interviews. 

The News Reporter will stay in regular contact consistently with the Assignment desk, Ensures all work complies with MBN's Journalistic Code of Ethics, Cultivates and maintains credible news sources with a wide variety of expertise and perspective. 

The Incumbent writes scripts, present voice-over and oversee production to ensure broadcast quality of stories and reports. 

Meanwhile, reports breaking news with accuracy and urgency and Edits or assists in editing material for broadcast. 


Candidates are required to have: 

At least a Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field A minimum of 2 years Professional 


Experience 

Expertise in shooting and editing compelling online video packages. Strong news judgment, high energy, and self- motivation. 

Fluency in Arabic and sound English communications skills. Competency in modern journalism tools including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

The News Assignment Editor is responsible for news gathering and disseminating news assignments to correspondents in the United States and overseas. 

The News Assignment Editor maintains a daily file which contains press releases, story ideas, reminders of follow-ups and scheduled events, and contact information about events

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Assignment Editor include, but are not limited to:

Organizes and coordinate daily news coverage including assigning news personnel and equipment resources to specific stories.

Assists the Sr. News Assignment Editor in executing his/her tasks.

The News Assignment Editor has to be alert for breaking news and following all available sources for news leads.

Prioritizes and communicate assignments to correspondents.

Manages and coordinate the time and logistics to make sure selected stories are covered efficiently with the available staff demonstrating an ability to prioritize and make decisions consistent with the mission of the organization.

Maintains an assignment board listing with the stories that are being covered, who is covering them and approximately how much air time is required to each story, so that anyone in the newsroom can know the status of a particular crew simply by quickly looking at the board.

Follows up on new reports.

Develops ideas for features and special reports.

Plans and coordinate special events.

Reads and edits news copy to ensure that slanderous, libelous, and materials are avoided or deleted.

Helps reporters find interviews.

Monitors Correspondents reports for balance, clarity and objectivity.

Alerts management about major news events, disasters.

Maintains a knowledge of current International and US events.

Conducts on-line research for difficult story assignments. 


Candidates are required to have:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field or 3-years of journalism experience.

Ability to communicate verbally, written and translate from English to classic Arabic.

Demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills.

Ability to meet tight deadlines and under stress with accuracy and balance.

Demonstrate people management skills.

Ability to quickly develop sources and contacts.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment, which could include overnight coverage.
