JOB PURPOSE


Competent in the handling of multiple fluid types and the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment for routine laboratory tests within a specific analysis category. Documents test results according to prescribed manner.  Maintains equipment as per requirements detailed by Company


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES


Awareness of relevant Company Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements and perform duties in accordance with these requirements

Perform processes according to documented procedures or work instructions in accordance with approved QA Procedures

Able to understand and apply analysis and technical standards according ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), UOP (Universal Oil Products), IP (Energy Institute) and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory

Maintain work area in a safe, clean and tidy manner including safe storage and disposal of samples

Fully complete all worksheets, data forms, records and administrative forms legibly and to distribute or file these in the appropriate location

Interpretation of client requirements and consultation with superiors in  order to achieve delivery of final product within agreed time frame

Competent in 50% of disciplines within assigned analysis category (analysis categories: Chemistry, PVT, Gas Chromatography, Flow Assurance or Enhanced Oil Recovery) which must include equipment maintenance and software use

Attend and participate in departmental and safety meetings

May assist in training less experienced levels


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Bachelor degree or

Minimum 12 months experience as Laboratory Technician II

Good verbal and written knowledge of local language

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

Ability to use (general) computer software such as MS Office and Visual Basic

Ability to use laboratory computer software (e.g. LIMS, LabView)

Responsibilities

Fuel Supervisors are charged with the responsibility of leading, directing and training the work of other employees in the Fuel Supply Technician classification. Familiar with all Facility Manager functions and roles in supervising the team during afternoon and midnight shifts. Responsible for all phases of fuel receipt and issue, including gauging of tanks, quality control, inventory management, system maintenance, and all other related duties. Ensure through definitive methods that product meets or exceeds quality standards set forth; ensure all work is completed in a timely manner, contributing to a safe and efficient operation.


 


Reports daily to the manager(s) detailing status of daily operations.

• Conducts weekly safety briefings as necessary.

• To maintain an uncompromising dedication to providing high quality service to all of our customers at a fair and reasonable price. This is achieved by accomplishing all duties in accordance with established airline regulations.

• Receive, Store, Issue, and Transfer Aviation Jet Fuel and ground fuel in a safe and efficient manner, while carefully monitoring and recording all pertinent information.

• Perform daily system inspections and required operator maintenance functions in accordance with ATA Spec. 103 and local operating procedures.

• Review the daily pipeline receipt schedule and plan for sufficient tank ullage on next day allotments.

• Complete and Maintain appropriate documentation on operational matters in accordance with established procedures.

• Perform a variety of fuel Quality Tests and analysis, in accordance with ATA Spec. 103 and established procedures.

• Maintain knowledge of ATA Spec. 103, the Operations Manual and other posted Regulations associated with the fueling industry.

• Complete all assignments directed by Management in a safe, efficient and timely manner as required by Company rules and regulations and all Federal, State and local laws.

• Continually inspect operations for unusual circumstances at the fuel tank farm areas such as: low/high pressure, leaks and unauthorized personnel, etc... This category as stated is not exclusive.

• Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, notwithstanding work in other functional areas to cover absences and relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the work load.

Qualifications

Three years’ supervisory experience in the operation of bulk storage / mobile fuel servicing

• Experience with petroleum sampling equipment, aviation and ground fuel sampling procedures, and fuel testing

• Proficient in regulations regarding fuel handling equipment and systems

• Working knowledge of automated fuel gauging systems, high/low level alarms, & cathodic protection systems

• Valid State Driver's License

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, loss/gain, inventory etc.

• Proficiency of the English language both written and verbal

SUMMARY


The Inspector I performs basic inspection work in petroleum and petrochemical terminals and refineries; also performs inspection work on board barges and ships following industry standards and the procedures published by API and Saybolt.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes the following, other duties may be assigned)


Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks including entering confined spaces

Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment

Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials as defined in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets

Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms clearly and promptly; perform inventories; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments

Perform other inspection department duties assigned by the Manager or Scheduler

Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Saybolt procedures manuals, the Global Safety Manual, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company polices

Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other safety training required by applicable regulations

Gain knowledge of basic and advanced laboratory procedures through cross training in laboratory

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


Inspectors must have a vehicle in good, safe operating condition that can be used on the job for both personal and sample transportation in all ambient weather conditions.  Vehicles used for sample transportation must be able to accommodate the secondary sample containers issued for sample transportation. 

Inspectors are required to maintain the proper levels of automobile liability insurance and meet all state requirements on vehicles used for Saybolt assignments. 

Inspectors must also maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. 

Local travel and occasional out-of-town assignments are required.
