Operating Room Nurse Manager- Kanad Hospital, UAE
Requirements;
Education: BSc in Nursing
License: Must be DOH passer or DOH/MOH/DHA Licensed or DOH Exam exempted
Duration and type of Experience: minimum four (4) years post graduate nursing/midwifery experience; masters degree in nursing, health administration, business or management is preferred; supplemented with one (1) year of experience in clinical nursing/midwifery leadership and/or management is desired.
Responsibilities:
Professional responsibility, performance and practice:
Ensures nursing is practiced in accordance with professional values, moral principles and maintains confidentiality as appropriate.
Ensures performance of nursing practice is in line with the organization, nursing department and Health Authority of Abu Dhabi policies, procedures and standards.
Manages nursing care in response to patient’s needs supported by nursing knowledge, research and reflective practice.
Monitors and evaluates unit/ward operations and services through organized Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives to improve patient care.
Ensures unit equipment and instruments are maintained in good working order.
Monitors stock levels of consumables for reordering.
Accepts responsibility for ensuring that his/her nursing practice and conduct meet the standards of professional, ethical and relevant legislated requirements.
Assists with developing priorities, goals, and action plans; develops and maintains scheduling procedures for staffing of nursing care.
Assists in formulating philosophy and objectives; establishes standards of nursing care and nursing practice.
Selects, orients, supervises and evaluates supervisors and clinical nurses; establishes standards of performance and maintains an evaluation system for clinical personnel; Constructively discusses their performance, counsels and advises them on professional development and to enhance standards of nursing practice; assists with identifying educational needs for staff and establishes in-service/development programs; collaborates with professional and technical schools to enhance clinical education programs.
Facilitates communication and problem solving for departments; leads or serves on committees; serves as a liaison between the medical staff and ancillary departments; Promotes a nursing perspective when collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and acts as a patient advocate to ensure high quality client care.
Serves as a resource person; develops, interprets, supports and implements policies and procedures; responsible for planning, preparation, utilization, evaluation and monitoring of budget.
Ensures departmental activities and records adhere to regulatory requirements; evaluates the nursing care given and makes recommendations to develop action plans for improvements; assists with development and implementation of service standards and patient satisfaction.
Oversees compliance of staff to infection control practices and mandatory education requirements.
Prepares and submits statistical data, monthly activity and annual reports to the Assistant Director of Nursing/Midwifery, as necessary.
Acts as a Nursing Administrator on call.
Plans and coordinates unit/ward activities; Conducts regular unit/ward meeting with the nursing personnel;
Maintain a professional portfolio.
Actively engages in ongoing self-directed learning.
Maintain a current Basic Life Support certificate.
Maintain a current DOH license.
Complete annual staff training requirements.
Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.
