Job Purpose

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Administration
Attend handover at shift commencement.
Complete relevant documentation of patient care accurately.
Adhere to procedures for storage, administration and record keeping of medication according to policies.
Participate in the formulation of a unit philosophy, goals, objective and nursing standards.
Be a good role model by upholding high standards of professional conduct in relation to patients, their
families, colleagues and all other members of multi-disciplinary team.
Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of
a multidisciplinary team.
Respects patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Participates in the formal and informal performance appraisal processes including self-appraisal, peer
review and 360 for nurses in KAAUH.
Take actions to achieve goals that are linked to KAAUH Strategy, professional practice and career
development.
Nursing Care
Assumes responsibility for providing direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process.
Provides individualized holistic care to patients using the Nursing Process approach with proper nursing
documentation in patient’s files.
Reports all abnormal findings and progress of patients to the relevant doctor/consultant.
Carries out orders of doctors pertaining to care of patients.
Informs Nurse Manager when change occurs in circumstances which affects standards of care.
Establishes a good working environment in which patient receive a high standard of care.

review and 360 for nurses in KAAUH.
Take actions to achieve goals that are linked to KAAUH Strategy, professional practice and career
development.
Education
Provide clear understandable information to patients that relates to their health based on their case of care.
Educate patients and families on the care and management of condition and to adopt a problem solving
approach to managing complications.
Takes personal responsibility for own professional development and keeps up to date with professional
change and growth.
Participates in continued educational activities.

Safety Health & Infection Control
Maintains the safety & infection control policies and ensures that all accidents / incidents / safety events
are reported to Nursing Manager.
Equipment and Medical Supplies
Checks regularly that all equipment in the unit are in good condition and takes action accordingly when
faulty.
Maintains adequate supply of ward stock.
Participates in the care, custody and administration of medications in accordance with Hospital Policies
and Procedures.
