The Country Compliance Officer & MLRO will oversee compliance and regulatory activities for the Dubai branch, ensuring strict adherence to local laws, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies. This role includes managing field inspections, preparing and reviewing compliance reports, and addressing violations in alignment with the annual inspection plan. The officer will keep stakeholders informed of regulatory changes and ensure robust monitoring frameworks to resolve and mitigate compliance breaches. In addition, the role involves leading the bank’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and sanctions-related activities, using advanced tools and systems to meet both local and international regulatory standards. The incumbent will guide and supervise the team in conducting AML/CFT reviews and inspections while driving compliance excellence in the UAE.
Key Responsibilities
Manage compliance inspections and ensure timely submission of reports highlighting violations and issues.
Update stakeholders on regulatory changes and support their implementation.
Oversee the bank’s AML/CFT and sanctions framework to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory parameters.
Lead and direct the team in conducting AML/CFT and sanctions-related reviews and audits.
Qualifications and Experience Required
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Banking, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
At least 10 years of experience in the financial services or banking sector, with a focus on compliance, regulatory, AML, or CFT functions.
Proven managerial experience in compliance or regulatory roles.
Previous experience within the UAE banking sector is essential.
This role is crucial for ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and upholding the bank’s integrity in alignment with UAE’s regulatory standards.

Regulatory Expertise: Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and their implications.
Analytical Skills: Ability to research and interpret international practices and compliance frameworks.
Risk Management: Proficiency in managing compliance risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
AML/CFT Knowledge: Strong familiarity with AML/CFT guidelines, including Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes.
Relationship Building: Capability to establish and maintain effective relationships with regulators and senior management.
Leadership: Skilled in leading small teams and providing strategic guidance.
