DHL Global Forwarding has an opening for Head of Air Freight in Saudi Arabia. In this specific position you will develop local Key Accounts and achieve revenue and profit contribution objectives from an assigned list of Key Regular Accounts in a designated Province area within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

JOB PURPOSE

Lead AFR Ops/CS sub-function at the country level and provide input to and lead the implementation of functional strategy to deliver flow of goods and information across the customer’s global supply chain utilizing air transportation, maximizing profitability and optimizing utilization of business and human assets in line with country’s business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Tasks

    Formulate AFR strategy in line with country business strategy and requirements, global guidelines and policies
    Lead planning and implementation of AFR plans, measures and budgets to achieve operational results driving profitability, volume growth and service expansion
    Develop plans, organize and control large country projects and initiatives to provide fast, reliable, efficient and affordable AFR solutions
    Lead effective AFR operational management through end-to-end capacity management, optimization of network procurement, implementation of consolidation opportunities, etc.
    Oversee and take decisions for operation sites, procurement of capacity, technical support (buying, capacity, etc.) and local purchasing in country according to global policy
    Monitor and act on preferred carrier usage and related incentive deals in the country
    Steer market profiling and customer/ competitor research and analysis activities to understand and identify market opportunities and challenges
    Define effective pricing strategies to sustain profitable growth, and guide identification and implementation of new products within country and provide input on solution design and service elements
    Liaise with sales to support interaction with key customers and provide pricing and margin guidance, support on bids, RFQs and customer presentations
    Set and monitor implementation to compliance standards, procedures and specifications for the country in line with global guidelines
    Benchmark and embed best in class infrastructure and practices for AFR at the country level
    Uses available tools to proactively monitor and improve performance
    Conduct regular dialogues with team to review quality and performance levels vs targets

 

Stakeholders

    Extensive contact and negotiating with other departments and 3rd parties with conflicting objectives
    Influence and challenge key stakeholders effectively
    Develop strong, trusting cross-functional relationships with senior DHL business leaders
    Influence others across DHL and externally as an internally and externally recognized thought leader representing the Group
    Champion cooperation and partnership to provide integrated solutions to problems

 

Management Responsibility

    Lead multiple teams of lower level executives, directors/senior managers, and managers
    Develop short to long-term (1-5 years) plans for optimizing the organization, function, or job-family and the talent required to execute strategies

    Master’s Degree or equivalent experience/qualification
    More than 8 years within the same field

    Excellent communicator in English, both written and verbal.
