Job Function

The Research Assistant in Accounting & Finance will primarily support the research efforts of the principal investigator in the funded research project. This role involves conducting literature reviews, gathering and analyzing data, assisting in the development of research proposals, and contributing to the dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Literature Review: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to gather relevant information and identify gaps in existing research within the field of Accounting & Finance.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate research methodologies and statistical techniques.
• Development of a Research Methodology: Execute data collection, developing the methods, and statistical analysis tools, and ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Results Interpretation and Discussion: Utilize statistical tools or qualitative analysis techniques to interpret research data. Assist in interpreting research findings and connecting them to the broader context.
• Publication Support: Contribute to the writing and editing of research papers, reports, and presentations for publication in academic journals, conference proceedings, and other scholarly outlets.

Project Coordination: Coordinate research activities, including scheduling meetings, arranging participant recruitment, managing research databases, and ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines and research protocols.

Experience

The candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in academic or applied research settings. This experience may include roles such as research assistant, postdoctoral researcher, or a similar position within academia or industry. The candidate should also have a strong publication track record, with at least five published papers, of which a minimum of two are in Q1 journals indexed in Web of Science (WoS) or Scopus.

Skills

• Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, AMOS, SMARTPLS, E-VIEWS, OR STATA) and qualitative data analysis tools (e.g., NVivo).
• Methodological Proficiency: Advanced understanding of experimental and survey-based research methodologies specific to Accounting & Finance.
• Academic Writing and Editing: Strong writing skills with attention to clarity, coherence, and adherence to publishing standards for top-tier journals.
• Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to evaluate research findings and synthesize insights from complex datasets.
• Innovation and Adaptability: Ability to adapt research approaches and introduce innovative methodologies as needed.
• Networking and Collaboration: Proficient in building academic networks, collaborating effectively within interdisciplinary teams, and engaging with industry professionals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and succinctly.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.

Qualification

• PhD in Accounting, Finance.
• Publication Track Record: A minimum of 5 published research articles, with at least 2 publications in Web of Science (WOS) or Scopus Q1-ranked journals. Publications should demonstrate a strong focus on Accounting and Finance, reflecting expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies.
• Strong academic background with expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
• Prior experience in academic research in Accounting & Finance, with a strong emphasis on producing high-quality, publishable work.
• Grant Writing Experience (Preferable): Proven experience in preparing and submitting research grant proposals, with a successful track record in securing funding—highly beneficial for supporting institutional projects.
