Introduction

The Research and Market Intelligence Associate Director is responsible for supporting the Practice Leaders and Project Leaders through comprehensive research to deliver strategic advisory to clients. The role involves conducting primary and secondary research, preparing in-depth reports, and generating data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Research and Insights:

    Support Practice Leaders and Project Leaders with executive summaries and in-depth research
    Conduct primary research, collect and analyse secondary data, and extrapolate key insights to prepare detailed reports and presentations based on research findings
    Solid understanding of various research methodologies to inform the development of bespoke research frameworks and approaches for client needs
    Analyze economic data/trends and business intelligence and provide nuanced insights to inform client proposals and strategic decision-making
    Develop models to assess economic impact of investment projects, policy changes, and market developments on local economies
    Provide data-driven recommendations for strategies, economic policies to attract and retain investments in key sectors
    Utilize advanced data analytics tools and techniques (such as econometrics) to analyse datasets and deliver actionable insights


Reporting:

    Prepare visually compelling documents, reports, and charts that effectively communicate research findings to stakeholders.
    Lead workstreams within larger projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and meet quality standards.
    Summarize and evaluate research findings, synthesizing information to glean key concepts and trends, and provide actionable insights.

Stakeholder Engagement and Knowledge Sharing:

    Develop strong, trusted relationships with multiple stakeholders, collaborating with Consulting and Research teams to share work, experience, and help build a knowledge centre.
    Participate in client meetings to understand their business needs and challenges, identify key issues, develop hypotheses, and provide data-driven insights.
    Assist the Research and Market Intelligence team in relationship development, client need identification, and proposal preparation.


Project Management and Delivery:

    Manage independent modules of work within projects, taking accountability for timely and high-quality execution.
    Ensure project deliverables are aligned with client requirements and contribute to the overall success of the engagement.


Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
    MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    A background in consulting, sell-side or buy-side research or experience working for an investment promotion agency/multilateral organization or think tank is a must

Experience:

    12+ years of relevant work experience in Economic Research, Macro Strategy, Consulting
    Strong knowledge of MENA region economies with a general understanding of the global economy.
    Understanding of investments and experience working with investment promotion agencies or similar public sector institutions is an advantage

Skills and Competencies

    Research and Analytical Skills: Strong ability to conduct in-depth research, synthesize complex information, and generate relevant insights
    Advisory Skills: Strategic and forward-looking thinking to guide advisory to clients around investment decisions, policy reforms, impact assessments
    Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
    Data Interpretation: Skilled at interpreting data and providing meaningful insights that can support strategic decisions.
    Project Management: Able to manage multiple research tasks, prioritize effectively, and ensure the timely completion of high-quality work.
    Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, understand their needs, and deliver relevant insights.
    Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in research and report preparation.

Contract Type and Duration: this role is a fixed term contract for 3 months extendable to 6 months.
