About the Role:
As a Cargo Freighter Support Controller, you will lead, plan, analyse and evaluate all commercial and operational aspects of Freighters ('Wet Lease' and 'Emirates') taking into account the operational and cost implications of the business. Propose solutions and make decisions on short to medium term basis in consultation with Management to optimise the freighter network and maximise profitability in the short to medium term.
What you will do:
Prepare all short- and long-term Block Space agreements or customers, in line with EK best business practices. Based on market demand and feedback from internal and external stakeholders, initiate and decide upon routings of scheduled freighter services. Optimise freighter revenues, maximise opportunities for extra revenue earning whilst ensuring slots and permits are secured as needed to run a smooth operation.
Prepare all long-term cargo commitment contracts for strategic customers and forwarders in line with EK best business practices to ensure that commercial aspects of Charter operations are diligent and profitable. To agree with customers to make sure that specific detailed elements of these contracts are in line with the overall intent of the primary intentions of the commercial deal in question.
Prepare all Block Space Cargo contracts for airlines (and forwarders) in line with EK best business practices to ensure that commercial aspects of Charter operations are diligent and profitable. Agree with customers and all internal stakeholders to make sure that specific detailed elements of contracts are in line with the overall intent the primary intentions of the commercial deal in question.
Commercial Planning
Working with long term charter customers, decide and agree contractual commitments for all charters. Plan all charter contracting activities in line with EK best business practices to ensure that commercial aspects of charter operations are diligent, workable and profitable.
Based on market feedback from stations, charter customers and Capacity Control, initiate and decide upon re-routings of scheduled freighter services to optimise freighter revenues and maximise opportunities for extra revenue earning.
Source on an ad-hoc basis sub-leased capacity for regional charter opportunities to take advantage of regional changes to traffic flows and demand, over and above capabilities of existing capacity. Make recommendations to MFC&FD and to MFO&C to agree and follow up the implementation of these extra flights.
Prepare post-flight profitability reports on charter operations and ad-hoc schedule changes such as re- routing and temporary operations for SkyCargo Senior Management and Finance to maintain complete transparency, profitability and justification of schedule changes and charter operations.
Based on economic results of freighter operations, plan and select most appropriate aircraft equipment and operator (wet-lease or EK) to be scheduled on various routes on medium term basis, taking in to account where the deployment of certain aircraft could have a detrimental effect on cargo uplift and service delivery.
Establish and manage processes and procedures for the coordination and management of existing operations and new station operations (by both wet lease providers and EK operated freighter aircraft) to ensure that all aspects of the operation are optimised to avoid unnecessary costs and service failures.
Crew Cargo Planning
Focal point for reference to lead a team of 9 resources, who manages, Hotel Bookings ensure hotel is arranged at all the network stations, prior to arrival of crew/loadmasters and engineers at station. Transportation (Airport to Hotel & vice-versa) Pick-up call & wakeup call at hotels arrange with hotels for wake-up and pick-up time notifications to crew. Meet & Assist (escort arrangements) arrange where necessary at stations. Catering- arrange for all occupants on freighters with catering providers at stations.
Responsible, to create processes internally as well as with external departments, in line with the changes in operating environment.
Proactively anticipate potential disruptions to crew patterns and formulate solutions to achieve highest level of productivity and utilisation of this resource. The use of specific company and legislative rules along with operational experience is essential to the job holder.
Facilitate with respective key external stakeholders like Chief Pilot Boeing, Fleet Duty Managers, Crew Service Delivery Managers, Procurement, Group Security and internal stakeholders like station Cargo Managers, Regional Managers of Cargo Operations.
Responsible for future automation of workflow and ensure maximum efficiency while keeping the safety and comfort of our crew as priority. Recommend performance improvement measures through a continuous review of the allocation process through regular reports and provide in depth analysis / feedback on shift operations to the Manager CP & FD to achieve continuous improvement.
Generate detailed weekly and monthly reports for review and completion by centralised crew logistics team prior to regular distribution to senior management. These reports provide an overview of past/present/future trends/forecasts to provide solid justification for the trend causal factors argued together with suggestions for corrective action.
Qualifications & Experience
This job might be for you if you have:
Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
5+ Years’ experience in Logistics/Cargo/Air Cargo
Experience in the air cargo industry or in a ground handling cargo section with a minimum in a supervisory capacity. Experience in airline capacity & revenue optimisation management.
Excellent knowledge of the commercial fundamentals of freighters including selling rates and aircraft costs and freighter profitability.
You'll have an edge if you possess:
Superior communication skills (both written and oral) especially when dealing with senior and technical colleagues both within and external to EK.
Wide range of technical skills across a wide range of aircraft operations, cargo loading, aircraft and crew
Scheduling, slots and aircraft engineering.
Should have good knowledge of IATA regulations, rules and procedures.
Should have completed approved Cargo Acceptance and Handling courses including Special Cargo Handling and Acceptance, Cargo Product Knowledge, Advanced Load Control and Freighter Load Control.
Cargo Crew Logistics Planning:
Knowledge of Crewing applications / APIS / CORE and other crew related applications.
