Overview of the role

As a System Engineer – Modern Workplace, you will be responsible to manage and maintain Exchange On-Premises, Online environments within the Office 365 suite and Mimecast Email Security Gateway. Incumbent will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing Exchange Online solutions along with Mimecast email security gateway and general email systems administration, security, and integration to meet the organizations messaging, seamless and secure communication and collaboration needs of the business aligned to overall Strategy of Group Technology and Digital Platforms
 

What you will do

    Design, implement, and manage Exchange Online solutions within Office 365.
    Configure and optimize hybrid Exchange deployments and mail flow configuration
    Develop and enforce policies and procedures for email security, retention, and governance.
    Deploy, Implement, and manage Mimecast Email Security Gateway for advanced threat protection and Archiving.
    Administer and maintain Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange servers.
    Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure system stability and security.
    Monitor system performance, availability, and security, taking proactive measures to address potential issues.
    Administration of Mimecast services, including configuration, maintenance, integration, and troubleshooting.
    Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Exchange Online, on-premises Exchange, and Mimecast
    Provide Tier 3 support for escalated incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to business operations
    Collaborate with Microsoft and Mimecast support, as well as other third-party vendors, to resolve critical issues.
    Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
    Implement automation solutions for user provisioning, mailbox management, and reporting.
    Work closely with other IT teams to integrate Exchange Online with other Office 365 services such as Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
    Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth within the team.
    Engage and collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand their needs and address their concerns effectively.
    Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Exchange Online configurations, processes, and procedures.
    Generate regular reports on system performance, usage statistics, and compliance status.
    Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in Office 365 and Exchange Online technologies.
    Recommend and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency, security, and reliability of the email infrastructure.
    Continuously evaluate and optimize the Mimecast environment for performance and cost-effectiveness
    Implement and manage email security policies and practices using Mimecast, including anti-spam, anti-phishing, and malware protection.
    Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to email communication and data protection
    Conduct regular security assessments and audits, implementing necessary improvements.

 Required Skills to be successful

    Mimecast Email Security Gateway
    Microsoft 365 administrator
    Exchange On-Premises, Online environments within the Office 365 suite

 What equips you for the role

    10+ years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 5 years in large enterprises with over 30,000 users, specializing in Microsoft Exchange, including Exchange Online within Office 365, and extensive experience in administering Mimecast Email Gateway.

    In-depth knowledge of Exchange Online architecture, configuration, and administration, including PowerShell scripting for automation.
    Hands-on with Exchange hybrid deployments, Azure Active Directory (AAD) synchronization, and Exchange Online Protection (EOP)
    Strong understanding of email protocols such as SMTP, IMAP, and POP3, as well as email security best practices.
    Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in Exchange Online environments, including mail flow and connectivity problems.
    Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact users.
    Familiarity with ITIL practices and frameworks
     Strong understanding of email security protocols and best practices (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, encryption).
    Experience with email migration tools and methodologies.
    Familiarity with Microsoft 365 suite (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and integration practices.
    Deep knowledge of Mimecast Email gateway administration, configuration, and maintenance
    Knowledge of network fundamentals, Active Directory and Azure Cloud

    Experience with other Office 365 services such as SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive
    Proven track record of leading large-scale email security projects, administration, and migrations.
     Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
     Microsoft 365 Certified Messaging Administrator Associate
      Mimecast Certified Technical Specialist (MCTS)
     Microsoft 365 administrator
     ITIL V4 foundation certified.
