Job Description

Aldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Lab Assistant for Al Majd Charter School in Abu Dhabi commencing AY24/25.

Seer Baniyas Charter School is dedicated to public school students based in Mohammed Bin Zayed City in the City of Abu Dhabi and offers American-based curriculum to Grades 6 and 7. We cater for 641 Emirati students, all boys. Middle School US Curriculum of English, Maths, Science, Humanities and MOE subjects will be enhanced with a wide range of extracurricular activities that address the needs of all of our students.

Responsibilities

Main Duties:

    Provide laboratory support.
    Provide direct support in the preparation of all lessons taking place in science, ICT, Art and LEGO laboratories and classrooms.
    Be available in the laboratory or prep rooms to support all teaching staff in these areas.
    Support classroom delivery, as required.
    Manage laboratories and ensuring that the right equipment, tools, chemicals, and other materials are adequately stocked and kept in working condition.

Specific Duties:

    Liaise with academic staff to discuss timetables, equipment requirements and work plans.
    Run trials of experiments prior to classes and then demonstrate techniques for experiments.
    Ensure that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly.
    Demonstrate accurate and appropriate use of all equipment.
    Set up, check, and issue, equipment, and apparatus for use in practical lessons as required by subject plans and in liaison with teaching staff.
    Retrieve and clear away apparatus and monitor stock levels.
    Maintain and repair equipment, laboratory, art and LEGO apparatus.
    Maintain required records and logs of all maintenance and servicing of equipment and facilities.
    Manage the stock control of all equipment.
    Ensure all equipment is appropriately stored when not in use.
    Keep records, e.g. for students' practical sessions, tracking methods and results.
    Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and that all materials are appropriately stored.
    Support the work of teachers in classes and laboratory sessions and give technical advice to staff and students.
    Work with individual students and support them on research projects and in Extra Curricular Activities.
    Coordinate work in the laboratory to ensure efficient use is made of expensive pieces of equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree in related field

Minimum Experience:

    A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
    Experience of US Common Core curriculum will be an advantage.
