Head of Policy and Communications
Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The Head of Policy and Communication role will be to share the full story of our company in Gulf with external media and policy maker stakeholders, with a focus on legacy, sustainable ways of working, prevention, as well as the value of our portfolio for patients using our products.
You will contribute to the general awareness and ultimately the patient access of the current and future our company in Gulf products and services portfolio, and to the perception of societal value of the pharmaceutical innovative industry and the future of health care policies.
Next to the tactical responsibilities, the Head of Policy and Communications guides and develops the Gov. Affairs and Market Access team in order to meet its goals and ambitions.
You’d also be in charge of translating the strategy into a proactive tactical plan in agreement with the Market Access, Pricing, Governmental Affairs & Communications Director, driving the agenda and its execution. You’d be working closely with franchise heads, regional and global colleagues to ensure alignment and timing of key communication.
The role sits within the Market Access and Pricing Department in our Gulf cluster located in Dubai, and reports to the Market Access, Pricing, Governmental Affairs & Communications Director, and would need the following ;
Job responsibilities :
Help the company strengthen its policy advocacy efforts and navigate challenging public policy positions in certain markets;
Effectively apply knowledge in health policy to the company’s public affairs work;
Support the company’s work with Governments, public institutions, industry and partners to build relations, understand mutual interests and co-develop projects/ initiatives/ solutions;
Interact and work cross-culturally as we deal with stakeholders across the Gulf countries;
Explore effective ways of involving the company in meaningful partnerships with the public sector;
Advise the MAP department on how the company should navigate regulations and relevant regional developments, manage and to support the decision-making process; and Leverage any existing government perspective and understand of the dynamics within public organizations, to play a bridging role in the company’s engagements with the public sector.
Development of Corporate Affairs strategies and delivery of tactical plans and projects to achieve our national governmental affairs objectives.
Strategic advice on and tactical delivery of CA plans and tactics in order to build and maintain effective communication with politicians and government employees, media and general public
Proactive and reactive creation and delivery of corporate messages
Ensuring our company in Gulf legal and compliance standards in all MAP departmental activities and communications, in line with our company’s business ethics policy.
Building relationships with all kinds of media including but not limited to press, TV, Radio, online etc.
Managing day-to-day relationships with media and internal stakeholders and effective media and political monitoring, interpretation, and reporting
Writing press releases, dissemination and follow up to ensure the same is carried out
Arranging press conferences and events for the various division.
Develop, implement and manage internal communications strategies.
Promoting staff engagement and alignment with the our company’s business objectives, brand values and purpose. Conduct disease awareness activities internally, townhalls and get closer events to develop a sense of purpose within the organization.
Facilitates global messages at country level and ensures latest information on company strategy and new initiatives are rolled out within the organization.
Establish and manage effective communications programs for all staff through a range of channels.
Provide support with all internal communications including organizational announcements, newsletters, vacancies, company initiatives, and EVA presence, while ensuring the key messages are captured clearly and are well communicated to the target audience.
Executive positioning - Assist the GM and Government Affairs team with their Social media presence by managing LinkedIn profiles and drafting articles needed for the events and establishing them as thought leaders ensuring governance and compliance, while posting them on LinkedIn.
Managing our company in Gulf LinkedIn channel and fostering engagement to successfully promote our company and the team in the region. Creating content and calendar for the channel in alignment with business needs ensuring strict compliance. Reinforce our company’s reputation and leverage the company’s perception in the pharma industry by enhancing brand awareness on the channel.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has a great business acumen and project management skills and at least 3 years of experience in a Corporate Affairs, Policy, PR and Communications related fields. Moreover:
You bring in thorough knowledge of the Gulf political, media and communications stakeholder field as well as a network within it.
You hold a Master´s degree in preferably political science, communications, or related field.
Experience in the pharmaceutical sector is imperative.
You preferably have in-depth knowledge of the Gulf Healthcare.
You have the ability to lead without authority and have good lateral management skills
To be able to communicate professionally in English and Arabic
Skills :
Keep himself/herself abreast of the evolving relevant policies across Gulf markets.
Exercise strong and persuasive writing skills;
Have a keen interest in public policy research;
Be sensitive to and practice a good understanding of Ministry of Health and Health Authorities protocols;
Proactively apply his/her mind to applying strategies that can advance the company’s thought leadership goals;
Work well in cross-functional teams with colleagues locally, regionally and globally;
