Role Purpose

The Mathematics Teacher will develop a curriculum consistent with the IB DP framework and the DP Mathematics Subject Guide and will create units of inquiry relating to the various Mathematics subjects. This position supports and implements the learning program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of NEOM EC-12 under the supervision and direction of the Divisional Head/Assistant Head of School and the Head of School.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the IB/DP Mathematics framework. Foster mathematical understanding, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Differentiated Instruction: Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive mathematics classroom environment. Encourage exploration and application of mathematical concepts. Problem-Solving and Inquiry: Facilitate problem-solving activities and inquiry-based learning experiences. Guide students in applying mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios. Assessment and Feedback: Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and progress in mathematics. Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students in enhancing their mathematical skills. Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and create a cohesive learning experience. Foster positive relationships with other IB/DP teachers and contribute to cross-subject connections, particularly with subjects that complement mathematics. Professional Development: Stay updated on mathematical education trends, teaching methodologies, and advancements. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills. Parent and Community Engagement: Communicate with parents regarding student progress and involvement in math-related activities. Collaborate with the community to enhance the mathematics learning experience. Other Duties: Other duties as assigned.

 

 

BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience	Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field. Teaching Experience: Proven experience as a Mathematics teacher, preferably within an IB DP framework. Mathematical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of various mathematical concepts and their applications. Ability to convey complex mathematical ideas in an accessible manner. Collaboration and Communication: Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork. Experience working with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive mathematics classroom environment. Curriculum Development: Expertise in curriculum development based on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme framework. Assessment and Reporting: Proficient in developing and administering assessments; ability to report on student progress in mathematics. Professional Development and Adaptability: Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on mathematical education trends. Adaptability to integrate new teaching methodologies and approaches.
Qualifications	Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field. Desirable Qualifications: Specialization or additional certification in Mathematics Education. Previous experience teaching within an IB DP framework.
