Material Inspector, ILF Consulting Engineers, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough inspections of materials used in water transmission and pipeline projects to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
2. Perform visual and physical inspections of materials such as pipes, fittings, valves, and coatings to verify quality, dimensions, and integrity.
3. Review material certifications, test reports, and documentation to ensure traceability and conformance to project requirements.
4. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to resolve any material-related issues or discrepancies promptly.
5. Maintain detailed inspection records, documentation, and reports to track material quality, quantities, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Monitor and document material handling, storage, and transportation practices to prevent damage or contamination.
7. Conduct field inspections at project sites to verify proper installation, handling, and storage of materials according to approved procedures.
8. Provide technical expertise and support to project teams regarding material selection, specifications, and quality control processes.
9. Participate in meetings, audits, and reviews to communicate inspection findings, recommendations, and corrective actions effectively.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to water transmission and pipeline materials and construction methods.

Job requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.

Minimum 5-10 years of experience in materials inspection, with a focus on water transmission and pipeline projects.

In-depth knowledge of materials used in water distribution systems, including pipes, fittings, valves, and coatings.

Familiarity with industry standards and specifications such as AWWA, ASTM, and ANSI related to water transmission and pipeline materials.

Strong understanding of construction practices, quality control processes, and inspection techniques.

Experience in reviewing material certifications, test reports, and documentation for compliance and traceability.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in using inspection tools, equipment, and software for documentation and reporting.

Relevant certifications such as NACE, AWS, or ACI are preferred.
