Systems Engineer, Speedcast, GCC

Overview of Position:

The Systems Engineer will be part of a talented team of systems engineers, sales engineers, project managers and project engineers that will demonstrate superb technical competency, by designing and delivering customer solutions, that will provide the highest level of availability, performance, and security for the customer’s communication infrastructure. The role will heavily involve the development, integration, and deployment of cutting-edge technologies to expand the business into new and existing markets and industries.

This role will require a well-rounded engineer capable of demonstrating expert-level knowledge in satellite communications, IP networking, virtualization, tools and monitoring systems, wireless solutions, and cyber security. The System Engineer will be the go-to engineer and act as the technical authority within the team both in pre and post sales, ensuring any complex endeavors during system development are resolved prior to service delivery. The role will consist of but, is not limited to the following details listed below.

Responsibilities:

Develop and design of new customer systems and solutions

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and optimization of service offerings 

Be a subject matter in innovative solutions to customer requirements

Collaborate with other engineering, sales, product and marketing teams to develop best practices, technical memos, whitepapers, procedures, and training materials

Conduct client workshop for integration of complex solutions and systems designs

Meet with clients to provide demos of products and services, systems and tools

Maintain knowledge of Speedcast’s innovative solutions and portfolio offerings

Communicate customer requirements that may require Speedcast to develop addition products, solutions and monitoring capabilities

Identify opportunities for automation of manual and repetitive tasks through use of program/scripting languages or other commercially available tools

Ensure products, services and offerings are standardized and fully documented 

Create documentation and share knowledge with peers and other engineering support groups globally

Provide technical guidance and direction to other support teams where required, product development, service delivery, operations engineering and NOC personnel with troubleshooting, design, on-boarding, risk mitigation, and operational improvements

Apply industry standard (e.g. ITILV3) lifecycle management best practices as it relates to Service Operation, Service Transition and Service Design

Requirements:

Background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis or closely aligned with the telecommunications field

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline

Strong satellite communications and RF systems level knowledge

Industry Certification: CCNP or equivalent industry experience

At least 5 years’ experience in network design, and implementation

Possess excellent time management and organizational skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences

Problem-solving skills and the ability to work with both external and internal stakeholders

Preferred:

           

Experience in designing and implementing complex network solutions in a multi-path, multi-orbit system environment (GEO, MEO, LEO stationary, 5G, LTE, L-Band Services)

Experience designing and deploying virtualized solutions using VMWare or similar hypervisors

Strong understanding of digital satellite network architectures, mobility services, VSAT platforms

In depth understanding of IP networking, SD-WAN, VOIP, QoS, Cyber Security and WAN optimization

Prior experience working within project environment

Implementation or support experience in the Energy and Maritime business vertical

Experience in a customer facing role

Ability to identify customer needs/requirements and convert to a standard solution or design

Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to handle high stress situations in a professional, business manner.

Ability to prioritize, manage time, and meet critical deadlines consistently.

Solid PC skills including usage of the full MS Office Suite

Experience with Visio, CAD or other drawing software to create system schematics
