We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Signage and Wayfinding. As the leader of this crucial function, you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth, developing and maintaining client relationships, overseeing project execution, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality wayfinding and signage solutions that exceed client expectations.
In this role, you will be expected to build the team and develop the service line building on both existing and new relationships with architects. This a senior role with P&L responsibility and will require a candidate who has experience in a similar role including managing and development of remote teams.
Your new role, what's involved?
Client Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact for all wayfinding and signage projects. Understand client’s needs, objectives, and challenges to develop tailored solutions that align with their brand and enhance user experience.
Business Development:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Middle East market.
Prepare proposals, design presentations, assuming lead in client presentations
Project Leadership:
Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from concept to implementation. Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with established quality standards.
Be responsible for project design budget, cost control, and schedule.
Client Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact for all wayfinding and signage projects.
Understand client’s needs, objectives, and challenges to develop tailored solutions that align with their brand and enhance user experience.
Strategy Development:
Formulate and execute a robust signage and wayfinding strategy aligned with organizational goals and brand standards.
Develop strategic Wayfinding & Signage solutions for a variety of local and international clients across a range of market sectors.
Team Leadership:
Lead a team of designers, project managers, and installation specialists to ensure the seamless execution of signage projects.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting professional growth and development.
Direct, organize, and mentor junior staff with responsibility for oversight.
Design and Implementation:
Oversee the conceptualization, design, and production of signage elements, ensuring they meet aesthetic and functional requirements.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective implementation of signage solutions.
Lead design efforts and project teams including design direction and client engagement.
Wayfinding Technology:
Stay abreast of emerging technologies in wayfinding, such as digital signage and augmented reality, and assess their applicability to enhance user navigation.
Implement innovative technological solutions to improve wayfinding efficiency.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage budgets for signage and wayfinding projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Monitor expenses, provide regular financial reports, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Compliance and Regulations:
Stay informed about local regulations, accessibility standards, and zoning requirements related to signage.
Ensure all signage projects comply with relevant codes and regulations.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, architecture, and facilities, to integrate signage seamlessly into the overall brand and environment.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Collaborate and engage with various WSP disciplines to cross sell services.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, design, marketing, business, graphics design or a related field.
10-15 years of experience within the wayfinding, architectural signage, or related design industry in the built environment. Experience in a leadership role with P&L responsibility preferred.
Proficiency in 3D modelling, visualization (Rhino etc.), and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred.
Knowledge and in depth understanding of BIM best practices and standards contributing to the implementation of BIM best practices in the development of projects from inception to final stages.
A compelling design portfolio.
Proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and project delivery.
Extensive knowledge of wayfinding principles, architectural signage systems, and design concepts.
Strong understanding of local building codes, accessibility regulations, and environmental considerations.
Entrepreneurial spirit and attitude.
Ability to direct and coordinate and build teams.
Experience in all phases and aspects of a project.
LEED AP or similar.
Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and remote teams.
