Responsibilities:
Managing day to day all aspects of Freight Forwarding Operations, being responsible for efficient and secure execution of all Freight Forwarding related services, shipments, and activities
Building up a solid independent operating Freight Forwarding team with highly qualified and motivated staff, providing high end Freight Forwarding logistics services to DP World Logistics clients.
Being the manager and key person responsible for entire Freight Forwarding Business Unit’s Port & Logistics and optimization of Freight Forwarding EBITDA and PAT levels in conjunction with the DP World finance department
Managing and responsible for a sizable freight forwarding operational team, taking care of manpower planning, team building, team motivation and a highly efficient and efficient freight forwarding operating department
Liaise with DP World Logistics Finance Department ensuring prompt and timely payments to all stake holders and vendors within the Freight Forwarding Logistics Eco-System, like shipping lines, trucking companies, airlines and ocean carriers
Responsible for freight contract pricing negotiations with key vendors within the Freight Forwarding Eco-System like; Shipping Lines, Trucking Companies, Airlines, Couriers and Freight Forwarding Agents within World Cargo Alliance network and DP World logistics offices
Arrange and Maintain membership of key Freight Forwarding associations and networks and represent DP World Logistics and DP World in events and annual conferences
Reviewing customer business execution levels on a regular basis optimizing Freight Forwarding services to DP World Logistics clients and matching challenging and relevant Freight Forwarding KPI’s
To develop long term plans and define strategies for enhancing the Freight Forwarding business in Jebel Ali in line with DP World’s strategic plans and business objectives
To establish professional relationship with key customers, promoting the Freight Forwarding business and any of other activities within the DP World Logistics Services portfolio
To identify areas within Freight Forwarding Operations for operational improvements in relation to greater productivity and cost efficiencies
To develop and monitor Manpower Plan, Manpower Budget and setting objectives and KPI targets for the Freight Forwarding Department
Ensure that all Freight Forwarding Staff follows DPWL Standard Operating Procedures set for the FF department
Perform periodical scheduled performance reviews with Freight Forwarding staff and identify and develop the department’s technology and training requirements
Liaise with other DP World Logistics Business Divisions arranging and coordinating efficient and smooth Delivery, Shifting, Trucking and Shipping Services to their premises
Business Development Brings in profitable business from new customers
Participates in RFP’s and submits pricing proposals to General Manager FFW and GM Logistics
Leads & oversees day to day operations of the department
Works with General Manager to grow the business in line with business strategy
Guarantees the qualitative aspect of operations (quality of service)
Develops and updates operating procedures for the team
Ensures the achievement of the department’s economic objectives (budget)
Innovates in its field and manages the corresponding projects
Manages people (daily management, Annual evaluation, Bonus, promotions,) in conjunction with HR & General Manager
Evolves its department according to needs (development and conjuncture)
Ensures communication within the department (daily meetings of service)
Enforces the internal regulations and the various company agreements
Formulate commercial offers. Leads & participates in commercial visits
Builds strong customer relationships
Explores business opportunities with current & new customers
Promote and demonstrate positive behaviours in harmony with DP World’s Principals.
Accountable for leading, mentoring and team engagement.
Providing direction, promoting collaboration and ensuring the team are enabled to achieve goals and objectives of the business
Measure and monitor performance against critical criteria, policy and guidelines established by DP World
Ensure compliance to DP World, Environment, Health, Safety, Security & IT policies and procedures.
Understand and adhere to DP World’s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies
Ensure adherence to DP World standards and policies.
Ensure data security is maintained to protect the privacy and interest of clients and key stakeholders.
Manage team of professionals and disseminating knowledge through continuous learning and development.
Qualifications:
Masters / Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, freight forwarding, International Business, or related field
7+ years of proven experience within similar role
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
