The role of the QHSE Engineer is to establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems ensuring all responsibilities associated with Health, Safety and Environment within the company are adhered to in all working areas / sites. To ensure and promote a safe work environment, without risks to health.
As a QHSE Engineer you are responsible for:
Evaluation of company's practices, processes, and procedures with respect to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 Standards
QHSE Engineers monitor incidents of injury, illness, and other situations within an assigned area.
QHSE Engineers design strategies to reduce incidents of illness, environmental accidents, and other issues that may affect employees and environment safety.
QHSE Engineers go into the field to investigate environmental accidents and other public safety concerns within their market.
QHSE Engineers design and deliver training programs to provide Quality & safety awareness education.
QHSE Engineers give presentations about current safety hazards based on market research to educate others about avoiding health, safety, and environmental hazards.
QHSE Engineers assess risks associated with tools and equipment, jobsites, and work environments
Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc
Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims
Generation of regular reports to the management on the effectiveness of the QHSE systems
Undertake a daily Toolbox Talk with site and workshop assigned personnel and ensure that records are maintained of the talks
Ensuring internal audit results are placed periodically.
Collect and analyze Customer feedback.
Liaison with customers and preparation of Inspection and Test Plans
Assist Supervisors in delivering Pre-Task Briefings to the workforce on the control measures identified in risk assessments and the safe system of work to be adhered to
Report immediately to the QHSE /Geomarket Manager any serious safety breaches that place workers in life-threatening situations
Audit the registers and permit systems maintained for lifting equipment, lifting accessories, excavations, confined spaces, hot works, Lock-out/Tag-out, etc
Provide weekly input of H&S statistics and data
Review subcontractor Health & Safety plans
Report and document the activities carried out in line with the documentation requirements of the company
Prepare reports on investigations.
To establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety
Ensure all transactions are carried out in compliance with the applicable standards, Company Quality (ISO) procedures and provide advice to the Management / Department of any non-conformance issues
Follow necessary safety regulations, applicable work instructions, operating procedures, method statements, etc. as required, in carrying out the jobs.
Implementation of use of proper PPEs, spares, tools, equipment and accessories.
Collate all the Reported incidents, accidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions and acts to the supervisors/QHSE Manager
Comply with all occupational health, safety and environmental procedures of both the company and of client while working.
In addition, shall also support the activities of the other units whenever requested.
Other duties associated with successful development of the unit.
Ensure all Gates Quality standards are being adhered to.
Required Experience:
Functions as an Individual contributor
Two years of related experience in QHSE activities
Certificate in occupational health and safety
Certified NDT Level II & Welding CSWIP level 3.1 or Equivalent
A demonstrable capacity to keep abreast of new technology QHSE trends and how they would apply to real world projects.
Ability to communicate openly, honestly and constructively and treat all customers and coworkers with dignity and respect.
Ability to work on offshore/onshore site for extended periods of time and do site visits.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to perform internal and external QHSE audits and coordinate for all third-party audits
Ability to plan, schedule and prioritize the activities.
Ability to create comprehensive and unambiguous procedures and reports
Ability to input and extract data from, ERP and Orion Systems
Commitment to continuous improvement in Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment (QHSE).
Awareness of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 & API Q1, 7K & 16C standards are preferable.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of Hydraulic and Service related/supported applications is an added advantage
Detail-oriented and ready to act in emergencies
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
Good knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
Diligent with great attention to detail
Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
