DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and drive implementation of regional Communications plans in support of Shangri-La Group initiatives (global and regional), new brand programmes and activations and other announcements relevant to key MEIA source markets.
Elevate Shangri-La profile to higher level in terms of story depth, calibre, and key message support across key consumer destinations within the region. Lead with a quality vs quantity approach.
Lead PR strategy for key renovations, pre-opening hotels and new restaurants/services with a focus on key source markets.
Provide strategic direction and coordinate activities together with Regional Comms and Hotel teams to ensure regional commercial strategy alignment and ensure overall support of the hotel’s business objectives.
Lead regional Comms teams and hotel marcoms teams to generate news and story angles designed to attract region’s media interest.
Identify and implement strategic tools as needed to secure a ‘data driven approach’ for the region including but not limited to media monitoring tool, influencer tool and media database.
Drive crisis and issue communications management at regional and hotel-level, including but not limited to strategic messaging, response preparation, and serving as a consultant for hotels.
Serve as point of contact for global team on crisis management.
Develop regional and hotel communications teams with required training opportunities.
Oversee the MEIA annual communications budget and apply expense control and monitoring measures to ensure budget adherence, accountability, and accuracy.
Conceptualize and drive regional F&B marketing calendar including ideation, asset and content creation and measurement.
Provide insights into the data and analytics for marketing of products and services to drive
marketing for improved revenue.
Best practice sharing and implementation support based on hotel success stories. Share with regional stakeholders and regional hotels on a regular basis. Escalate to HQ as needed for broader implementation.
Deliver relevant F&B insights and trends on an ongoing basis to both regional and hotel teams to support their planning.
Work with VP F&B to ensure compliance across specified properties of regional and brand programmes.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must be a marketing and communications expert and leader with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Middle East experience preferred.
Have a proven track record of success and previous experience working in the travel, F&B and/or luxury lifestyle space.
He or she will have exceptional written and verbal skills and be able to summarize, clarify and communicate ideas simply and accurately.
This person must be strategic, collaborative and highly results driven and have a good understanding of the luxury consumer trends and new media landscape.
Superior interpersonal skills reflecting leadership ability; the personality to inspire confidence and build teams and the flexibility to work in a dynamic environment.
