Job Purpose:
The Manager Database and Integration – Database will lead high performance teams of Database Technical Managers and Engineers whose mission is to support, manage and enhance, mission critical Databases and platforms as well as associated system across the Enterprise, both on premise and in the cloud. Drive Database and Integration practice in Emirates Group IT and its subsidiaries, to deliver significant business, operational and cultural benefits, by creating and maintaining a solid technology foundation and Platform Service layer for all users to consume. Contributes to and implements the strategic direction of digital enablement of the group through the enablement of core technologies (databases, integration) to deliver speed to market, efficiency and quality resulting in higher value to customers. Provides the technology platforms to enable agile release trains to adopt Cloud, application modularisation, micro-services, to build in quality and world class engineering practices, bringing developers and operations practices closer together. Enables implementation and adoption of Database and Integration technologies that ensures appropriate level of tooling for services by implementing and continually improving data-informed production feedback loops to balance availability, performance, and agility.
Job Accountabilities:
- Develop Database and Integration’s offerings for teams and agile release trains, through participation in Programme Increment Planning, System Demo and Solution Demos for DevSecOps, Cloud and SRE adoption runaways. Enable autonomous teams to deliver based on this high-level context. Tailor telemetry that contributes to enterprise level metrics. Build productive relationships with Architecture, Cybersecurity, Delivery, Product Management, Software Engineering, Quality Assurance and other stakeholders to enable collaboration at scale and effective resolution of any impediments encountered by the autonomous teams.
- Develop and grow the Database and Integration team by setting goals and objectives, conducting performance reviews, coach, mentor leadership, and build a high performing team and support/engages in hiring, retention, training, team engagement events and activities. Listen to and support teams for problem solving and root cause analysis. Provide freedom and safety so that the team can innovate, experiment and even fail on occasions.
- Creates and drives the execution of the Database and Integration roadmap to efficiently serve application portfolio. Establishes mission and purpose for Databases and Integration capability, site reliability and cloud engineers to implement DevSecOps assemblies and release on demand practices on top of Database and Integration services.
- Plays an active role in being a servant leader that promotes cultural mind shift and transformation in Emirates Group IT to build business confidence keeping the end consumer in mind.
- Provides API-driven self-service platforms for DevSecOps assembly users to consume Database and Integration Services, including automated provisioning and deployments as part of the complete DevSecOps assembly.
- Maintain a strategic and corporate view of new platforms required to provide cutting edge services to end users enabling improved time to market for service delivery at optimal price.
- Ensure emerging trends and technologies related to the area, and best practices are continuously brought into Emirates Group IT for continuous improvement, in addition to managing technology suppliers for Database and Integration development, global centres of excellence and distributed scaled agile practices. Lead, coach, and mentor a team of technical engineers, providing servant leadership, continuous feedback and facilitating professional development.
- Enable the migration of existing on-premises services to on-cloud services in collaboration with the hybrid infrastructure team to achieve cost efficiency, improved quality, a more productive engineering workforce and faster project delivery, by utilizing cloud landing zones and most appropriate platforms and technologies. Provide tooling that enables enterprise-wide visibility of the health of Database and Integration, telemetry, dashboards and analytics to report on technology usage, the health trends and business outcomes such as performance, utilization, capacity, at Agile release train and Solution domain level.

Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
Knowledge/Skills:
- Experience in designing, building and maintaining enterprise-grade mission critical, scalable technology solutions. Managing teams of technical engineering professionals in large solution domain. Experience of Scaled Agile methodology, with modern flexible working practices.
- Hands on experience in building and maintaining Database and Integration, with proven track record of leading a team to transform the efforts of a large-scale engineering organization in digital, data and enterprise domains.
- 5+ yrs of core technical engineering experience at scale in cloud adoption.
- 8+ yrs hands on knowledge of Database and integration.
Knowledge/skills:
- Thorough knowledge of the enterprise technology stacks used for business solutions.
- Exceptional Technical Knowledge of Linux Based OSes, Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, vRA), Databases (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, Distrubuted SQL, Cloud Native, ) Integration Platforms (TIBCO, MQ, Kafka, Snaplogic, Apigee, Solace), Container Management (Openshift, Tanzu, Cloud native)
- Analytical Thinking and Problem solving skills of complex technical challenges.
- Ability to promote Innovation and Transformation.
- Research industry innovations and best practices. Apply appropriately in the solution domain.
- Partner with technical and business leaders across the organization to drive value from the technology solutions.
- Identify and remove waste in the technology operations to improve cost, flow, throughput, productivity and quality.
- Manage technology suppliers for complex solution development, global centers of excellence and distributed scaled agile practices.
