Job Purpose
Define, develop and govern the technology strategy for business portfolios in alignment with corporate business and IT. Set references and directions for technology investments and identify priorities for investment. Helps identify new opportunities, business drivers and provide improved IT responsiveness to business needs thereby increasing speed, agility and faster turnaround. Improves IT transparency enterprise-wide, pushes silos to think globally and act locally thereby accelerating a move towards a real time enterprise.
Job Accountabilities
- Manage the end-to-end design, development and deployment of architectures across all the respective domain. Take accountability for the implementation of appropriate architectures across the entire project portfolio.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Architecture Guiding Principles, drawing on architectural knowledge and experience. Help build the chapter and the overall practice of Architecture and design.
- Lead the development of new corporate IT standards, analysing and understanding potential impact of competing technologies, assessing their strategic significance, defining their strategic role and scope, roadmap, relationship to existing standards, and periodically reviewing our entire IT estate in the context of those standards.
- Lead the development and documentation of architectural patterns and solution designs for use in solutions. Provide expert consultancy and coaching on these to the teams. Execute servant leadership principles and empower the team with developing them and setting the right context.
- Establish SMART objectives, career development plans and training for direct reports and provide appropriate mentoring and coaching. Conduct continuous performance reviews to cultivate a high performance culture.
- Track technologies and new business innovations, determine how they relate to our IT strategy, existing standards, platforms and patterns, and lead the work to amend the existing assets or create new assets to reflect.
Qualifications & Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Qualifications:
Degree of Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent IT related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in the development of distributed, mission critical applications in heterogeneous environments/architectures for multi-user systems.
- Experience of detailed business system architecture and design
- Preferably technical leadership and architecture experience.
Knowledge/Skills:
• Demonstrated experience in large cloud migrations in a hybrid, multi-cloud environment with datacentre, AWS, Azure, Google, and other cloud service providers.
• Strong understanding of cloud migration techniques, frameworks, approaches, discovery, and migration tools.
• Experience in technical supervision of cloud migration factories, architectural governance, and proactively managing technical issues and risks throughout the delivery life cycle.
• Experience in planning architecture roadmap runways by prioritizing applications based on various parameters such as business value, criticality, complexity, tech debts, etc.
• Good understanding of architectures, deployment models, connectivity, databases, cloud platform services, automation, monitoring, and cyber security aspects of infrastructure and business applications.
• Demonstrated experience in anchoring and leading cloud migrations by engaging senior stakeholders in IT and business.
• Has proven experience in leading, consulting, and contributing to cloud strategy, technology, and architecture efforts in large IT organizations.
• Experience in application portfolio analysis to identify candidate applications and workloads for migration to the Cloud
