KONE has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Compliance Manager for Middle East & Africa. Reporting directly to the Head of Global Compliance and collaborating closely with the Global Compliance team, the role will lead, direct and control compliance related activities to protect KONE’s reputation and business interests and to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities and Key Activities:

  • Manage issues concerning compliance and related legal risks and make recommendations on all compliance matters including policies and complex problems

  • Provide legal advice to the employees and management on compliance related topics, including anti-bribery and anti-corruption issues

  • Carry out due diligence on the counterparties of KONE units in the region and KONE distributors, including screening against international sanctions, in accordance with the instructions from the Global Compliance Team

  • Monitor conformity of the activities of KONE units in the region to the applicable legislation and KONE’s own policies and procedures

  • Analyze and give proposals for KONE's local current or proposed business activities, policies, business practices and transactions to ensure that they comply with all relevant laws and regulations

  • Lead internal investigations related to various compliance issues in collaboration with the Global Compliance Team

  • Communicate with relevant authorities about compliance related matters within his/her scope of responsibility

  • Develop and implement standard compliance related contractual clauses and templates in collaboration with the local legal team

  • Promote a compliance-oriented culture and mind-set among employees and partners of KONE units in the region

  • Support and promote the local operation of KONE’s channels for reporting actual or suspected compliance violations

  • Support HR and management in regulation of conflicts of interest

  • Establish training programs and conduct trainings on compliance matters for the organization to ensure that KONE’s business is conducted in accordance with all relevant laws, regulations and internal legal policies and guidelines and in line with KONE’s global requirements

Are you the one?

  • Bachelor degree in Law or relevant educational background

  • Additional qualification in economics, finance, audit is a strong advantage

  • 7+ years of relevant compliance experience within multinational organizations in relevant industries

  • Strong knowledge of administrative procedures, regulations on anti-corruption and on other compliance related subjects

  • Basic knowledge of criminal law and knowledge of customs regulations and certification rules is an advantage

  • Experience in risk management, internal controls or internal audit is an advantage

  • This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, so ability to work independently and with a long-term perspective is required

  • Excellent communication skills, including experience of communicating at all levels of an organization

  • Fluent in written and oral English. Fluency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
