We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Strategic Procurement Services (SPS) team as a Supply Chain Sustainability Manager, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve sustainable procurement targets.
The Supply Chain Sustainability Manager has a focus on all Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects of the Supply Chain and plays an important role in the delivery of HSBC’s sustainability commitments around Carbon Emissions, Responsible Consumption, Supplier Diversity, and Human Rights.
The role holder will focus on two main areas:
- Be the Supply Chain Sustainability lead for the MENAT region, and support the Regional Head of SPS and Global Head of Supply Chain Sustainability in the development and implementation of strategies for a sustainable and diverse supply chain in the region, with the aim to make our supply chain Net Zero by 2030, supporting goals on responsible consumption, significantly increased supplier diversity, further improved ethical evaluation of our suppliers, and ensuring their alignment with HSBC’s values when it comes to human rights, at a regional and local level
- Supplier sustainability strategy: increase supplier engagement, through the creation of supplier strategies addressing the implementation of sustainability in the supply chain, in collaboration with Category Management and regional sourcing teams
They will ensure that global best practice in policies, processes, and projects are adopted within SPS, and they will support with the development of global sourcing strategies that leverage our competitive position and balance cost and sustainability benefits.
The role holder will engage with local ESG teams and regional suppliers, to ensure ESG frameworks, practices and procedures are employed, escalating compliance issues as required to the Regional Head of SPS and Global Head of Supply Chain Sustainability and seeking guidance on best practice from both global, regional and country teams
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support the development of sustainability strategies that align business objectives, customer requirements and HSBC sustainability commitments
- Ensure sustainability strategies are executed effectively at a regional and local level, implementing global best practices in ESG
- Drive and manage projects to address specific ESG issues that ensure sustainability strategies are executed effectively in support of delivery on objectives, implementing global best practices in ESG
- Develop, manage and implement supplier engagement strategies for a sustainable supply chain, to increase and structure supplier engagement in relation to sustainability topics
- Act as an SME on sustainability, industry/global standards and best practises, maintaining a community of practice with regional peers to ensure consistency and maintain market leading knowledge
- Support the Head of Supply Chain Sustainability and Regional Head of SPS in developing sustainability objectives in scorecards, assisting with the definition of metrics and target proposals based on market best practices linked to the sustainability focus areas in strategic sourcing and sustainability objectives of HSBC
- Provide regular reporting updates from ongoing projects, support the development and drive key metrics, identify improvement areas, track progress and ensure alignment on HSBC ESG requirements
- Act as primary point of contact for regional / local suppliers and Category Management and Sourcing Leads with respect to ESG compliance/understanding issues
- Lead or participate in relevant ESG Governance meetings, Steercos, working groups
- Support the delivery of sustainable value through the provision of sustainable sourcing strategies and assurance, risk management, contractual protection and consistent best practice for HSBC
- Support the development and communication of (group) policies, standards, methodologies and solutions appropriate to a sustainable supply chain.
- Have extensive knowledge of procurement best practice and innovation
- Have understanding of the financial services industry, including key players, strategic requirements, and key risks facing financial services institutions
- Have significant experience applying environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals within a procurement function
- Have knowledge of ESG goals within the financial services industry and non-financial services best in-class examples
- Have knowledge of the appropriate metrics required to evaluate supplier ESG performance
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
Experience & Qualifications
- Graduate Degree is a must to secure UAE visa.
- 8 years+ experience in a similar role
- 3+ working in a relevant ESG or Procurement role
- Significant experience applying environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals within a procurement function
- Knowledge of the appropriate metrics required to evaluate supplier ESG performance
