Senior GL Accountant (MENA), Amideast, Oman

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Primarily responsible for coordination and management of accounting operations, including the monthly closing process and monthly reconciliation activities. Reports directly to the Assistant controller for overall management and direction.

Critical Duties:

  • Establish and monitor the monthly closing process
  • Responsible for timely account reconciliations
  • Responsible for accuracy of all balance sheet accounts, including HQ bank accounts
  • Timely preparation of AMIDEAST tax filings, registrations and required reporting
  • Assist with annual audits and prepare and review supporting documentation
  • Develop, implement and document processes
  • Responsible for Cost Point management including linking Orgs and GL Accounts


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for general ledger activities related to monthly closing entries
  • Maintain general ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Analyze and prepare monthly journal entries for recurring expenses, accruals and deferrals, investment activity, allocated expenses, and/or other adjusting entries ensuring accuracy of methodology and accounting
  • Monitor all balance sheet accounts including monthly reconciliations
  • Maintain the fixed asset/depreciation/amortization worksheets
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis including fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll liabilities, leave balances, benefits allocation, FICA reclass, and customer service
  • HQ bank reconciliations
  • Daily banking entries
  • Analyze financial statements
  • Reconcile contributions on a regular basis to ensure all contributions received have been recorded properly
  • Prepare and process monthly student taxes
  • Link accounts and orgs in Deltek Costpoint
  • Payroll back-up
  • Reporting Foreign Bank (FBAR) annually
  • Maintain documented accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Help in the preparations of AR invoices and the monthly and quarterly financial reporting relating to US Government contracts
  • Assist in project setup as needed using Deltek Costpoint
  • Automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual efforts
  • Develop process documentation for all processes
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in revenue recognition methodologies
  • Perform monthly and year-end audit reconciliations
  • Assist with annual audits, prepare and review supporting documentation
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 4 years in GL Accounting, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years professional finance/accounting experience; Nonprofit and Government contractor experience preferred
  • 3 years’ experience using Deltek CostPoint software or other accounting software, preferred
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and OMB Uniform Guidance (and associated Accounting Standards and requirements for non-profit organizations, government contracts and indirect rates)
  • Familiar with Government reporting requirements, USAID and Department of State preferred.
  • Process-oriented, with experience in documenting processes and procedures
  • Excellent Computer skills, proficiency in MS Excel applications, and strong experience with Deltek Costpoint and Enterprise Reporting (CER) or similar reporting system
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate world class cultural attributes and behaviors in all interactions with country directors, project managers, department heads, and senior staff.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from the corporate office or remote home office (temporarily due to COVID-19).
