Job Description
Provides technical and engineering expertise for the Fire Protection (FP) Program for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant. Review permits and perform walk downs to support daily operation and maintenance of BNPP and provide support to the Initial Fire Response Team as needed.
Permit Work and Walk Downs
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Oversee fire prevention activities at the plant and review permits to support safe operation and maintenance at BNPP.
- Conduct plant inspections and walk downs to identify inoperable FP equipment or systems.
FP Engineering Support
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop Fire Safe Shutdown program and objectives to ensure it aligns with the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) by describing them in the Business Plan and FP program documents.
- Assist in the development of and implement engineering analysis and activities related to the Fire Safe Shutdown to ensure the plant is prepared in the event of a fire-related emergency.
- Coordinate between site and plant to ensure the fire hazard technical support is executed.
- Verify that the Regulatory Guide 1.189 and the applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code is adhered to when reviewing FP designs and future design modifications.
- Analyze BNPP building and other structures on site to identify surveillance needs including required detection, suppression, and egress requirements.
- Analyze regulatory requirements related to the site common FP equipment and systems and their operation to maintain compliance and reduce workload burden for Fire Brigade.
- Evaluate and analyze FP equipment and systems installation, design, inspection, and maintenance to inform Fire Brigade surveillances and ensure the fire prevention and response measures are properly provided in accordance with the applicable regulatory codes.
- Evaluate FP equipment and systems impact based on plant design change to maintain fire safety in the plant.
FP Reports, Procedures and Systems Implementation
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Develop and analyze FP Reports such as Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA) and Fire Safe Shutdown Analysis (FSSA), and Multiple Spurious Operation (MSO) Report to ensure the FP system and plant data is updated and the fire hazard is properly analyzed.
- Review and provide feedback on key operating procedures including the FP Normal Operation Procedure (NOP), Alarm Procedure (ARP), and Accident Operation Procedure (AOP) to ensure the FP system is properly operated at each operation condition.
Health and Safety and Security
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Follow all relevant company’s Health and Safety policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure compliance in all aspects of work as per sound management practices. Apply these policies and procedures to self and others to ensure reasonable care of the health and safety of the employee; the environment; and various individuals who may be affected by the employee’s acts or omissions at work.
- Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
- Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission critical activities.

Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 2 years of relevant experience.
