Summary
The Mariner / Engineering Surveyor position requires attendance on vessel potentially in all locations, often at short notice, for surveys on vessels of all configurations; consulting with Underwriters and liaison with the insurance markets but not limited to casualty investigation surveys, P&I, cargo and bunker and port surveys etc....
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Exercises proper judgments and decisions when dealing with each case
- Interact timely with various parties involved in the claims process as necessary, wherever and whenever required.
- Ability to clearly communicate and ensure concise, timely reports following attendances.
- Able to handle a full caseload, with proven ability to handle cases of increased severity.
- Promptly investigate all assigned claims without supervision, including those of a complex technical nature.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency through timely, consistent execution of work.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with internal and external parties on a wide variety of claims and account issues.
- Provide a high degree of customer service to clients.
- Short notice travel to any location will be required, over weekends and public holidays
- Based in Dubai office
Requirements
- Must have more than 3 years as a Senior Technical Manager / Senior Manager position.
- Must have seagoing experience up to senior engineering ranks Class 1 or Class 2 or Master Mariner Unlimited Master, on a various range of vessels.
- Ideally have more than 5 years’ experience as a senior surveyor dealing with insurance claims.
- Candidate should have strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven critical thinking skills that demonstrate analysis/judgment and sound decision making with focus on attention to details
- Strong verbal, written communication skills
- Must have strong customer and colleague service skills and work effectively as part of a small team within a large organisation.
- Must be computer literate, including working knowledge of MS Office Product Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Must have clean driving licence
