With an increasing focus on MEA regional leadership, the Northern Region delivery team is led by the Operations Manager. The Operations Manager will be based out of our offices in Doha in Qatar and will supervise and manage activities of project execution and the operations organization in Qatar and Kuwait in the Northern Region of Middle East & Africa World Area.
As part of the MEA Systems & Software Operations Leadership team, the Operations Manager leads and drives the Emerson Values and performance of the MEA Operations team.
The Operations Manager will take responsibility to ensure adherence to Emerson and the Customer Safety and Workmanship standards through appointed sub-contractors.
As part of the MEA Operations Leadership Team, the Regional Operations Manager reports to the MEA Systems & Software Operations Director.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate a positive environment in the Team for work and professional growth.
- Implement the standards contained in the "Emerson Business Ethics Program". Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standards and related policies, and implement them within this supervised activity.
- The timely achievement of the Business Unit’s financial targets as prescribed by the POR with particular focus on Sales, Margin and DOA for those projects performed in the region.
- Direct the activities of the MEA Engineering Center that is responsible for project management, planning, design, application engineering, contract administration, start-up and commissioning of systems.
- Ensure project management practices are aligned with the PMO guidelines and standards; contractual commitments are met, meet and improve upon the as-sold project financials and asset management targets, while attaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with the engineering management organization in Dubai HQ to ensure the vital engineering support for projects. Support Project Managers to maintain project schedules and take action as required to mitigate risk and to resolve disputes involving schedules, applications and functional intent of the contractual documents. Work closely with the projects and engineering teams to increase the use of Best Cost Engineering Center
- Work closely with MEA Sales and Marketing, MEA Business Administration group, Product Development and Factory Operations to ensure effective support in obtaining and performing customer orders. Teams may consist of Emerson inter-departmental, inter-divisional, vendor or customer personnel.
- See opportunities which will bring value to the Client and improvement
- Conduct regular team and Management meetings to ensure internal communications are working effectively.
- Provide regular status reports to management and customer representatives on project progress. Monitor internal, customer, sub-vendor, and third party project performance for Quality and timeliness of functions performed.
- BSc Engineering degree or equivalent with further education in business administration, operations, or project management is a plus.
- Relevant strong background and experience in the automation industry with broad technical knowledge for different industry segments (Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Refining, etc).
- Must have a strong solid understanding of project management and project accounting.
- Requires strong people and communication skills, as well as customer and commercial sensitivity.
- Extensive understanding and experience of business drivers in Project Management.
- Strong background of leading and line managing successfully and an authority in cost & risk management.
- A high level of customer interfacing skills.
