Job Purpose
As direct support to the Project Manager/Director, the Contract Manager is responsible for the proper administration of the main contract with Fugro’s clients:
Specifically, such professionals would:
Oversees the administration and communication of all elements of contractual terms and conditions from award through contract close-out and final settlement;
Ensure timely cash collection from the client;
Examines project budget and delivery schedules;
Support Procurement department in preparing prepares bids, specifications, and contractual flow-down;
Pursue any project-claim related matter (inclusive of any litigation as required);
Ensure the timely issue of Insurance Certificate and Bank Guarantees as well as cancellations;
Liaise with relevant Project Controller and Project Coordinator
Ensure proper minutes of the meeting are recorded.
Organizational Context
Support Project Manager on strategic projects. Liaise with Legal, Procurement, Project Controller as well as Project Coordinator.
Key responsibilities
Manage and ensure proper execution of the Main Contract
Identify Project Risks and Minimize Project Exposure
Ensure timely cash collection
Support Procurement on subcontracts/POs (flow-down and negotiations)
Provide Support on Project Claim and Litigation
Manage Project Communications and Maintain proper contractual records
Education
Master - Law degree or Engineering/Quantity Surveying/other Construction-related degree with post-grad legal training.
Working experience
7 Years minimum of Project experience with EPC companies. Offshore Project experience would be a plus.
License/ Certification/ Qualification/Language Proficiency
Law Certification
Should be proficient in English
Skills and Qualifications
Communication: A Contract Manager must be able to communicate ideas effectively to the company, to the other parties involved in the contract and to stakeholders to keep everyone apprised of contract-related matters.
Negotiation: Negotiation is essential for a Contract Manager, as it’s their job to get the most benefit to the company possible out of any contract considered.
Confidence: A key aspect of successful contract management is confidence. It takes a strong attitude to successfully negotiate and execute contracts, as well as an understanding of when to walk away and when to stand one’s ground.
Finance Skills: In order to evaluate whether or not a contract is good for the company, a Contract Manager must have the necessary financial/commercial skills to determine exactly how the company would benefit.
