Job Description
Job Purpose
Develop, review and implement the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) NRM models, programs and applications, including; Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) model and application, Accident Management Program (AMP) and Severe Accident Analysis (SAA) program for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) in order to ensure that all the requirements regarding the scope and quality are met with the agreed timelines, in adherence with the regulations of the Federal Authority Nuclear Regulation (FANR).
Key Responsibilities
PRA Model
Design, review and implement PRA model as-operated to meet regulatory requirements for Operating License Application (OLA) and ensure the safety of BNPP against severe accident.
Identify event trees and fault trees based on plant-specific design and operation conditions to respond to Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulations (FANR) Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) and support various PRA applications.
Monitor the PRA database (equipment failure data, reactor trip data, etc.) to ensure the as-is plant data is reflected into the PRA model and Risk Monitoring System (RIMS)/ Phoenix model and to get current PRA insights.
Review updates to the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) 19.1, Probabilistic Risk Assessment, and PRA Notebooks after reviewing PRA model procedures to ensure its integration with other departments to enhance operational efficiency.
Evaluate PRA model against international industry experts such as Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Pressurized Water Reactor Owner Group (PWROG), etc. to improve PRA methodologies and documentation.
PRA Applications
Review independent plant risk evaluation and provide PRA results to the plant operations, maintenance, and work management organization to inform safe and reliable operations.
Analyze risk insights obtained from the PRA model to complement design, construction and operation of the facility in nuclear power plant thus improving plant safety and minimize nuclear risk.
Post-Fukushima Action Plan
Assess and analyze all elements of Post-Fukushima Action Plan to ensure compliance with international standards; reviews including: existing respected action plans (e.g., IAEA), BNPP-specific design and severe accidents, severe accident mitigating equipment, equipment survivability, etc.
Develop and review short-term and long-term Post-Fukushima action plan of prevention and mitigation strategies to enhance the safety of BNPP against key external events: fire, flooding, seismic, sand storm/sand dust, tornado, tsunami, etc.
Severe Accident Analysis
Design components of Severe Accident Analysis program to support accident analysis at BNPP and ensure compliance with FANR regulation, including:
Severe Accident Prevention Analysis for Anticipated Transient Without Scram (ATWS), Mid-Loop operation, Station Black-out, Fire, Intersystem Loss-of-Coolant Accident, Earthquakes, Flooding/Tsunami.
Severe Accident Mitigation Features: Containment Design, Cavity Flooding System, Hydrogen Mitigation System, Safety Depressurization and Vent System, Cavity Structure Design, Emergency Containment Spray Backup System.
Input and parameter database of Severe Accident Analysis Computer Code (MAAP).
MAAP code Limitation and Accuracy.
Severe Accident Analysis History with Background Documents.
Monitor and review additional severe accident analysis to ensure compliance with FANR regulation, including: PRA Level II Severe Accident Analysis, Severe Accident Management Guideline (SAMG) Severe Accident Analysis, and Fukushima Severe Accident Analysis.
Provide technical information and risk insights to support Severe Accident Drills and Exercises for the site engineers.
Monitor SAMG development and maintenance to stay in accordance with design changes, procedure changes, new regulatory policies, and new severe accident phenomena.
Severe Accident Management Program
Design severe accident management guidance and procedure in order to ensure effective and consistent processes.
Design severe accident management training program to ensure appropriate awareness across the organization.
Design and evaluate tools for mitigating core damage events methods to preserve possible barriers against event spreading and mitigate consequence of severe accident.
Research and design possible methods to detect early phase of severe accidents and estimate consequences of unspecified events.
Health, Safety, and Security
Follow all relevant company’s Health and Safety policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure compliance in all aspects of work as per sound management practices. Apply these policies and procedures to self and others to ensure reasonable care of the health and safety of the employee; the environment; and various individuals who may be affected by the employee’s acts or omissions at work.
Follow all relevant Security policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure security compliance in all aspects of work, by applying them on self, others and Corporate assets.
Ensure compliance with corporate requirements for adherence to policies, procedures and instructions related to Crisis Management and Business Continuity in order to continue mission critical activities.
People Management
Manage the effective achievement of the Organization’s objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal constructive feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and department performance.
Contribute to the development of UAE National employees in a manner which supports the objectives of the corporation and its Emiratization strategy.

Skills
Experience - PRA model, internal and external events, especially for Fire,
Familiar and experience in Risk-informed applications in US such as such as 50.69, IST, ISI, RITS, etc. in USA
Knowledge in SDP, MSPI calculation
Maintenance Rule program and implementation
Minimum experience 20 years
