Job Summary
Serves as a capable professional in an architectural design team, leading work on specific elements of a project with minimal direction and supervision of a Senior Architect or designated senior team members.
Core Accountabilities:
Architectural Design
BIM Model and Drawing production (Design Brief compliance, completeness & accuracy)
Design co-ordination (within Architecture & Cross Discipline).

Job Duties:
Project /Design Responsibilities:
Organises own and others work to achieve set deadlines
Independently checks the completeness & accuracy of own work prior to review by the Senior Architect or designated senior team member
Prepares BIM models and drawings and co-ordinates using Navisworks and other coordination software
Adopts creative and innovative solutions to assigned tasks and develops appropriate research and documentation to support these solutions
Follows specific, standardized procedures to achieve set results and deadlines (as set out by Senior Architect or Senior Team member)
Proactively checks and coordinates project documents (including but not limited to multi-disciplinary drawings, design reports, technical specifications, etc.) and ensure they meet Client requirements and Industry Standards
Ensures accuracy and quality of discipline BIM model information, presentation, and coordination
Takes accountability for own work and subordinates work
Prepares various schedules such as walls, partitions, doors, louvres & finishes and carries out QAQC
Collaborates/communicates with other disciplines regarding coordination issues and common design & BIM model development tasks
Regularly reviews and checks their own deliverables for accuracy, efficiency and thoroughness ensuring delivery is as per Client requirements and Industry standards
Works with the team to communicate, solve, and update design and BIM models for coordination and design issues.
Communicates with clarity, purpose and accuracy
Determines solutions, methods and procedures on assignments to deliver products & services
Provides guidance to junior staff
Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, working drawings, develops details, develops specifications
Produces drawings either in Revit or AutoCAD and co-ordinates using Navisworks and other coordination software
Participates in pro-active coordination with internal and external design disciplines to achieve a high-quality consistent set of presentation or design documents as per Client requirements and Industry standards
Responsible, with guidance from senior team members for the preparation and compilation of design presentations and reports
Participates in team meetings by bringing ideas and solutions to the table
Develops knowledge of AECOM’s QMS procedures
Plans for and applies Safety in Design principles throughout all design stages of a project
Prepares material schedules and sample boards
Proactively liaises with Statutory Authorities and develop knowledge of local & international codes, regulations and submission requirements
Attend client meetings where required
Confidently present work to colleagues
Contribute to providing technical support to site supervision teams and resolving design related issues on site
Participate in developing responses to 3rd party review comments, tender queries, contractor’s queries, etc.
Efficiency in Design:
Apply and reinforce standard designs and products across work programmes
Rigorously challenge the teams to drive efficiency in our design programmes
Coordinate efficient outsourcing / offshoring (GDC etc.) of workload
Managerial Responsibilities:
Planning and monitoring others work to achieve set deadlines
Mentoring Intern, Graduate and junior team members
Commercial Responsibilities:
Understands principles of and able to work within project budgets which includes fees and designing to construction budget
General Responsibilities:
Delegates effectively and efficiently where appropriate and follows up on delegated tasks up to completion of the task(s)
Keeps abreast of the latest software/ techniques to increase productivity
Minimum Requirements
Project /Design Responsibilities:
Ability to fulfil all the above duties and responsibilities
Developed technical knowledge of practice line discipline
Developed architectural design skills and understanding of the design process and interfaces between design disciplines
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Autodesk BIM 360 Glue, Navisworks, presentation software and working on projects in a BIM environment
Develops BIM content based on BIM modelling standards and as outlined in BEP
Knowledgeable of Industry BIM standards, processes and general approaches
Knowledge to set-up the configuration and administration of projects for respective discipline in Revit and AutoCAD
Performs BIM model QA/QC checks on projects according to established and company standards to ensure accuracy and quality of discipline models
Ability to extract, manipulate, validate and present BIM model information as required

Good Architectural design skills complimented by good hand sketching skills. Able to sketch something quickly in order to show ideas and concepts
Good understanding of space planning and functional adjacencies
Developed skills in the use a variety of software / media in the development, presentation and documentation of a design
Capable of researching materials and learning about their properties & potential applications as well as installation / construction sequence requirements so they can be integrated into the design and information can be noted in depth on the drawings and specifications
Capable of developing comprehensive wall, partition, door, louvre & finishes schedules etc. that include enough information for costing, procurement and quality installation
Capable of developing a set of quality specifications
Developed understanding of Safety in Design requirements and able to integrate the principals into the design and design team
Good Presentation skills (drawn, written & verbal)
Proficiency in Sketch-up and/or other 3D design tools
Able to review shop drawings and samples to ensure drawings and materials match AECOM design & specifications
General Skills:
Flexibility of attitude towards company objectives
Project experience
Must be detail-oriented, consistent and highly accurate in the work
Must be a team player, have a positive attitude, and be a self-starter
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability and motivated to update skills and expertise through continuing professional development (CPD) initiatives
Detailed knowledge of AECOM’s standards, policies, codes and procedures
Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value.
Basic knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of local & international codes, regulations and submission requirements
Basic knowledge of Fire & Life Safety Principles
Basic knowledge of Sustainable Design principles
Basic knowledge in MS Project and other Design Planning & Management tools
Managerial Skills:
Ability and will to guide and provide support to junior staff members
Demonstrates an organized and systematic approach to work.
Development of Time Management skills and will to streamline processes and procedures to increase quality and efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 5 years post undergraduate experience
Proven related professional experience in an Architectural Practice
