Job Description:

A robust, informative, engaging digital presence is crucial for any broadcast media; that includes the production and distribution of purposed and original written content, as well as video, podcasts, and interactive media. It is the Senior Executive Producer role to maintain quality and consistency across media types and web platforms, with special attention given to the quality of editorial and traffic.

The Digital Editor in Chief will manage the Company’s editorial online and social media teams in line with the editorial track set by the Head of News - Editorial and the digital strategy set by the Digital Product Manager.

The ideal person must be energetic, creative, with excellent online and social editorial experience; immersed in what it means to "live life online".

You will manage a team of Senior and Junior Multimedia Journalists. Your mission will be to gather and produce news with panache while ensuring Sky News Arabia's editorial guidelines and values are adhered to.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

    Passion and enthusiasm to lead the company’s editorial online and social media teams will be immediately evident, and will be infectious throughout the wider organization.
    Implement the online and social media editorial and digital strategy, in coordination with the Deputy Head of News and Digital Product Manager.
    Responsible for the development of strategies for generating meaningful editorial and content that garners a high volume of engagement and visits across owned digital assets and social media platforms.
    During the production process, whether for written copy, audio, or video, the Digital Editor supervises the Online Media Editor, Social Media Editor and their respective teams to ensure that they are meeting deadlines and are maintaining the focus of the set digital strategy and editorial assignments.
    Manage presence in online and social networking sites including Owned Assets, and all social media platforms, and seeding content into applications as needed.
    Ensure that all conversations are logged and tracked.
    Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of online and social media editorial programs in coordination with the Data Director and Content Analyst.
    Monitor online and social media tools, trends and applications.

Key Skills, Experience and Education:

    An excellent journalist with strong editorial judgment.
    Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.
    Minimum 15 years of Journalism experience, with 5 years experience in a senior level position, such as Online Editor / Social Media Editor or other similar senior role.
    Extensive experience in news environments at a senior level, including online and social media production.
    Previous experience in a large national or international broadcast news channel in the MENA region is a plus.
    Evidence of a broad range of journalistic interests including social affairs, international politics, public policy, world business and economic affairs, sciences and the arts.
    Fluent in both written and spoken Arabic and English, French will be a plus.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator.
    Ability to work under pressure.
    Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and innovative approach to digital management.
    Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
    Excellent management skills. Accustomed to managing talent.
    Experience of or appreciation of the benefits and difficulties of working cross-platform.
    Excellent strategic skills and the ability to consider medium to long term market trends.
