Director of Food and Beverage - Zabeel House by Jumeirah the Greens, Dubai
About the Role:
An opportunity has arisen for a Director of Food and Beverage to join the F&B Department at Zabeel House by Jumeirah the Greens. The main purpose of the role is to be fully accountable for the operations of the department and outlets. Plan, organize and direct all processes of F&B operations to ensure the delivery of a quality food and beverage experience. Engage with guests and the community. Ensure all restaurants achieve maximum revenue and profit in line budgeted and forecasted projections.
The main duties and responsibilities of this role:
Assist in coordinating the organizational and administrative functions in all areas of the F&B Department to ensure delivery of set strategy and full compliance with Jumeirah standards
Monitor service and food and beverage standards in all outlets and kitchens ensuring quality and consistency, addressing under performance as necessary
Monitor closely the profitability of all food and beverage outlets in-order to provide solutions and optimal performance
Set, in close conjunction with each outlet Manager, annual operating budgets which will form part of the Business Plan
Initiate special/innovative on brand/concept promotions, offers and activities that generate additional revenue and interest
Monitor activities and trends of competitor hotels, restaurants and bars keeping up to date with industry developments to ensure the hotel offerings remain relevant and on trend.
Make recommendations for modernization of equipment, service methods, and presentation to improve guest satisfaction and profits.
Participate in public relations activities, sales calls or other promotional activities designed at enhancing the image and profitability of the Food and Beverage department and the hotel.
Actively engage with customers and guests to obtain feedback and measure satisfaction, address areas of concern as required (TQM)
Be active and visible in the operations to ensure all are being managed according to standard
Ensure that HACCP and other local regulations are adhered to ensure the highest food hygiene standards
Train and develop Managers/colleagues to ensure that they can operate independently with their own profit centre and deliver financial targets
Build and develop a strong team through effective recruitment, training and performance management as per company standards
Perform any other duties that management may reasonably require such as Manager on Duty shifts.
Be an active member of the hotel leadership team supporting overall strategy and performance
Assist in bringing all Managers/Chefs up to date with Market trends and ensuring that their product matches these needs
Ensure measurable quality objectives are established and actively participate in the review of these objectives
Ensure appropriate communication processes are established
Ensure manning and competence level of selected colleagues is sufficient for the department to meet the needs of the organization and customer.
About You:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:
Essential:
Diploma / Degree in Hotel / Tourism / Business Management from a recognised education institution
Additional F&B / Leadership / Management qualifications valued
Previous experience as a Director of Food & Beverage / Food & Beverage Manager in dynamic F&B operations in a lifestyle hotel environment (4-5 star)
Understanding of non-outlet operations e.g., Room Service, Mini Bar, Meetings & Events, Poolside dining
Previous experience in successful high volume / quality standalone F&B concepts
Proficiency in spoken and written business English.
Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to complete detailed department / outlet budgets
Able to manage large, diverse and high volume operations.
Proven track record in successfully launching promotions / new concepts
Excellent / Creative Menu and Beverage List Development Abilities
Strong Knowledge of Implementing Brand Standards
Creativity and innovation in food and beverage concepts and operations
Demonstrable achievements in improving customer satisfaction and profitability.
Experience with EFQM or other quality model highly regarded.
Good problem solving and follow up ability
Straight forward approach, very hands on and approachable
Certified in Food knowledge (Internationally recognised)/ HACCP
